Description
Hiyori Asahina is a young girl who serves as a central figure in the tragic time loop central to Mekakucity Actors. Born on March 3rd, she is eleven years old and physically small for her age, standing 138 centimeters tall. She has long black hair typically styled into two ponytails resting on her shoulders, with messy bangs and dark brown eyes. Coming from a wealthy family in the countryside, she was raised with lessons in ballet and piano from a young age.
On the surface, Hiyori presents a sharp, bossy, and demanding personality. She has a very active and stubborn nature, which drives her to take action on her desires without much hesitation. She is popular among her classmates, but she shows little interest in this attention or in romantic matters, often responding to those who approach her with a harsh tongue. This behavior is most visible in her interactions with her classmate and friend, Hibiya Amamiya, whom she orders around like a servant, makes carry her luggage, and constantly insults. She can be careless and messy, once leaving her trash around her brother-in-law's home without a second thought.
However, this cold exterior hides a more caring interior. Despite her constant put-downs, Hiyori genuinely considers Hibiya her only true friend, and within the time loop, she makes desperate efforts to save him from dying. In the eighth novel, she confesses her love to him and asks him to save her the next time. With people she admires, such as the idol Momo Kisaragi or the gentle young man Konoha, she drops her cynical attitude entirely and reveals a sweet, excitable, even protective side that is more age-appropriate.
