TV-Series
Description
Kon is a fox spirit who first appears as a small pup in danger of being swept away by a river. Inari Fushimi rescues him, and it is later revealed that he is a familiar of the shrine goddess Uka-no-Mitama-no-Kami. As a reward for Inari’s kindness, the goddess grants Inari a portion of her divine power and assigns Kon to stay with Inari as a companion and helper. From that point, Kon becomes a constant presence in Inari’s daily life.

Kon’s personality is playful, curious, and affectionate. Although Kon is a supernatural being, he behaves in a childlike manner and is deeply loyal to Inari. He often provides emotional support and lighthearted moments, but he is also willing to face dangers when necessary. His primary motivation is to help Inari and ensure her happiness, driven by genuine gratitude and the close bond they develop. He takes an active interest in Inari’s personal struggles, especially her romantic feelings for Kouji Tanbabashi, and does what he can to assist her.

In the story, Kon serves as Inari’s guide to the supernatural world. He offers advice, accompanies her on various encounters with gods and spirits, and uses his own abilities to aid her when she needs help. He also acts as a link between the human characters and the divine realm, facilitating communication and smoothing over misunderstandings. His role evolves from that of a simple familiar into a trusted friend who participates in Inari’s emotional growth and self-discovery.

Key relationships include Inari Fushimi, whom Kon views with deep affection and loyalty; the goddess Uka-no-Mitama-no-Kami, whom he serves respectfully; and other spirits and deities he meets during the series. Through his interactions with Inari and her friends, Kon gradually becomes more attuned to human emotions and learns about love, friendship, and sacrifice. This development is subtle but consistent, marking his transition from a merely obedient familiar to a caring companion who acts out of his own feelings.

Kon’s most notable ability is transformation. He can change his shape at will, often taking on human forms to help Inari gather information or navigate social situations. He also has enhanced senses and can communicate with other supernatural beings. His knowledge of the divine world and its rules makes him a valuable resource for Inari as she learns to handle her own borrowed powers.
