Nana Shimura became the seventh wielder of One For All, inheriting the quirk from En Tayutai after All For One mortally wounded him in battle. She ingested part of En's DNA to receive the stockpiled power. Her natural quirk, Float, enabled her to suspend herself mid-air without achieving true flight.
Physically, Nana stood tall with a well-built frame, fair skin, sharp gray eyes, long eyelashes, and a small mole beneath her lower lip. Her dark, straight hair fell to her shoulders, usually styled in a half-up bun with short bangs framing her forehead. Her hero costume consisted of a sleeveless dark bodysuit with a high collar, yellow elbow-length gloves, white knee-high boots, a golden-buckled belt, and two capes—a shorter one at her back and a longer one buttoned at her shoulders.
Her personality blended kindness with steadfast justice. She held that heroes must save both lives and hearts, advocating for smiling during adversity to reassure victims and demonstrate strength. This philosophy profoundly shaped her successor, All Might. Initially dismissive of the quirkless Toshinori Yagi's ambition to become a "Symbol of Peace," she recognized his resolve and took him as her pupil, training him alongside Gran Torino.
Nana married and had a son, Kotaro, whom she loved deeply. Following her husband's murder by All For One, she placed Kotaro in foster care to protect him, severing all ties and altering family records to hide their connection. She left him an explanatory letter, but Kotaro grew to resent her, viewing her actions as abandonment. This decision inadvertently shaped Kotaro's bitter worldview; he forbade hero discussions in his household and abused his children, particularly his son Tenko. When Tenko discovered a photo of Nana, Kotaro's violent reaction contributed to Tenko's quirk awakening, killing his family. All For One later found Tenko, molding him into Tomura Shigaraki.
In a battle against All For One, Nana sacrificed herself to ensure Toshinori and Gran Torino escaped. Gravely wounded, she confronted All For One alone, smiling as she declared Toshinori would defeat him. All For One killed her and later preserved one of her hands for Tomura.
As a vestige within One For All, Nana occasionally appeared to successors. She expressed guilt over Tomura's fate and questioned Izuku Midoriya's resolve to stop him. Later, within Tomura's psyche, she encountered Kotaro's vestige, apologized for abandoning him, and embraced him. During Izuku's battle with Tomura, her Float quirk manifested in him. She also helped preserve Tomura's vestige from All For One's control, enabling Tomura to aid the One For All users against him.
Her name "Nana" (七) means "seven" in Japanese, reflecting her position as the seventh user. She remains the only female wielder of One For All and the only one to have a biological family.
