Movie
Description
Nae Tennouji is the only daughter of Yuugo Tennouji, the owner of the CRT television repair shop known as the Braun Tube Workshop in Akihabara. She is an elementary school student in the sixth grade. In her early appearances, Nae is a timid and reserved girl who keeps her distance from Rintaro Okabe, especially when he adopts his Hououin Kyouma persona, which frightens her. She regards Okabe as a strange person and dislikes being given nicknames, and she similarly feels uneasy around Itaru Hashida. In contrast, she is very fond of Mayuri Shiina, whom she considers an older sister figure, and she has a warm, loving relationship with her father, often visiting him at the shop after school.
Within the story of the movie Steins;Gate: The Movie – Load Region of Déjà Vu, Nae appears as a familiar background character within the Future Gadget Laboratory’s circle. Her everyday interactions with the lab members help establish the normal, stable world that Okabe struggles to remain a part of as his existence begins to waver. Though she does not drive the plot, her presence underscores the continuity of the relationships in Okabe’s life and the emotional stakes of his disappearance. Over the course of the series, Nae gradually becomes slightly less fearful of Okabe, especially after his persona softens following the main events, and she develops a more cheerful demeanor as she grows more comfortable with the group.
Nae’s motivations are primarily centered on her strong attachment to her father and her desire to feel safe. She seeks comfort in familiar routines and in the people she trusts, such as Mayuri. In alternate world lines depicted in the broader Steins;Gate narrative, Nae shows a capacity for darker determination, including a single-minded pursuit of revenge after traumatic events, but within the movie’s timeline she remains a gentle, somewhat shy child who is still forming her place in the world. Her notable abilities include a keen familiarity with electronics, having grown up around her father’s repair work, and a quiet perceptiveness that allows her to notice changes in the people around her. Nae’s character development across the series shows her moving from a frightened girl to a more open and resilient young person, though in the movie she primarily serves as a subtle reminder of the ordinary lives that are affected by Okabe’s extraordinary journey.
