Description
Emma Meyer is a witch from the Library who appears as an antagonist in the anime Strike the Blood. She is the older sister of Octavia Meyer, and the two sisters arrive on Itogami Island to assist Yuuma Tokoyogi in her plan to free her mother, Aya, from the Prison Barrier.
Emma Meyer is described as a cruel and sadistic villain who takes pleasure in torturing her victims, a trait she shares with her younger sister. Her outward appearance is that of a classic witch; she wears a black, wired-brimmed triangular hat, a black mantle over her shoulders, and a form-fitting black leather bondage rider suit, with black hair and yellow eyes.
Before the events of the main story, Emma and her sister were responsible for a catastrophic event known as the Ashdown Tragedy. Over a decade prior, the sisters conducted a mysterious magical ritual on the outskirts of Ashdown, the capital of the North Sea Empire in northwestern Europe. This ritual caused the complete disappearance of a three-hundred-hectare forest and destroyed the city, forcing it to be abandoned. This incident made the Meyer sisters world-famous sorcerous criminals. The truth of the event was that the lost forest, down to its last tree, had been transformed into a devil familiar. Their arrival on Itogami Island marked the second time they had appeared there, following an earlier visit ten years prior that had inflicted severe, unprecedented damage.
As a witch, Emma Meyer possesses considerable magical abilities. She wields a Grimoire, specifically Number 539, as the focus for her powers. Her primary displayed ability is wind manipulation, which she can control to form sharp, thorn-like tails for offensive purposes. One of her most formidable techniques is the Red Thorn, a great thorn that is highly resilient and cannot be harmed by normal attacks, though it is vulnerable to holy weaponry like La Folia Rihavein's Artificial Holy Sword. This ability can be used both defensively and offensively.
Her key relationship is with her younger sister, Octavia, with whom she has a partnership in their criminal endeavors. After arriving on Itogami Island, her role in the story is that of an antagonist, using her powers to help Yuuma achieve her goal while fighting against Kojou Akatsuki and his allies. She also demonstrates a sensory ability, allowing her to detect the presence of others like Dimitrie Vatler.
