Mataro Mankanshoku is a supporting character in the anime Kill la Kill. He is the younger brother of Mako Mankanshoku and lives with his family in the slums of Honnou Town. He is a short boy with brown hair often tied into a ponytail and brown eyes. His typical attire consists of a black shirt that slopes off one shoulder and a pair of cut-off shorts.

Mataro is known as a local troublemaker who skips elementary school and leads a small group of other children in various acts of mischief around Honnouji Town, particularly near a cul-de-sac. His motivations are simple and childlike: he enjoys causing minor trouble, playing with his friends, and avoiding school. He is loyal to his family and appears to respect Ryuko as a figure of authority and strength. In the latter part of the series, he demonstrates surprising survival instincts and resilience during chaotic events, though he remains a minor presence throughout the main story.

Key relationships include his sister Mako, whom he fears when she is angry, and his parents, Sukuyo and Barazo Mankanshoku. He also interacts with Ryuko Matoi, who becomes a temporary member of the household and occasionally relies on his street-level knowledge. His development is limited, as he remains a secondary comic relief character who does not undergo significant personal change, but he does show a capacity for bravery when his family or Ryuko are in danger. He has no special combat abilities and relies on speed, cunning, and group tactics when facing threats.
