TV-Series
Description
Oyakata Kurobe, whose name translates as Foreman Kurobe, is a supporting character in the anime Coppelion. He is an older male survivor of the nuclear catastrophe that rendered Tokyo uninhabitable, and he lives with other survivors inside a self-contained dome known as The Planet. Within that community, he is in charge of the security and safety of the residents, making him a protective and practical figure rather than a central hero.
His background is rooted in construction. It is hinted that before the accident he worked as a structural engineer, and this training explains his knowledge of materials and structures. In the ruined city, where buildings are unstable and infrastructure has collapsed, this expertise is his most notable ability. His understanding of how buildings and materials behave allows him to help maintain the dome and assess the safety of the structures the survivors rely on.
In appearance, Kurobe is a weathered man with dark gray hair, black eyes, large eyelashes, and a growing beard around his chin. He wears a brown jacket trimmed with dark brown fur around the neckline, a white polo shirt, olive green pants, and black boots, a practical outfit suited to his working role.
His personality is defined by responsibility and a quiet sense of duty. His main motivation is the well-being of the survivors under his care, and he devotes himself to keeping The Planet secure and its people safe. Because of this role, his key relationships are with the other residents of the dome, whom he protects and supports, and with the Coppelion team when they encounter the community. He appears in the later part of the story, when the main characters reach The Planet, and he serves as a supporting presence who provides local knowledge and assistance.
Kurobe does not undergo a dramatic transformation over the course of the series. His development is modest and consistent with his position: he remains a steady, grounded figure whose contribution lies in his protective oversight, his practical skill, and his determination to shield the community he looks after.
