TV-Series
Description
Shogo Hatakeyama, a human chosen by the angel Emaka as a candidate for God, possesses medium-length dark hair and frequent stubble, usually wearing a track suit. To conceal his identity during his candidacy activities, he adopts the persona and full obscuring costume of the television superhero Metroblue.
After failing a college entrance exam for the third time, Hatakeyama encountered fellow failure Saburo Tabuchi. In shared despair, they agreed to a suicide pact. Before acting, two angels intervened, offering them both the chance to become God candidates. Hatakeyama and Tabuchi then formed a new pact, pledging to ensure the other's happiness if either succeeded in becoming God.
Seeing Metropoliman's televised invitation, Hatakeyama and Tabuchi attended a gathering at Jinbo Stadium disguised as Metroblue and Metroyellow. Blending into the crowd initially, they revealed themselves after Metropoliman arrived. Hatakeyama, as Metroblue, attempted to subdue Metropoliman using a red arrow—which compels obedience and love for 33 days—but it failed. Concluding the figure was a decoy controlled by the real Metropoliman, Hatakeyama publicly challenged him to appear, citing the arrow's range and firing speed limitations.
When Metropoliman addressed the stadium via the jumbotron instead, Hatakeyama decided to abduct the decoy for interrogation. During this, a young girl revealed herself as a God candidate; Hatakeyama attempted to shoot her with a red arrow to secure her loyalty but was interrupted as Metropoliman took her. Subsequently, two more candidates, disguised as Metropink and Metrogreen, joined Hatakeyama and Tabuchi. While Hatakeyama was distracted by another jumbotron announcement, the real Metropoliman—having switched places with his decoy unnoticed—fatally shot Hatakeyama in the head with a white arrow, which kills instantly.
As a God candidate, Hatakeyama possessed wings granting flight and red arrows enforcing temporary obedience and affection. His partnership with Tabuchi, rooted in their mutual pact for shared fulfillment, was central to his actions.
