Description
Takemichi Hanagaki (花垣武道), a 26-year-old DVD store part-timer living in a messy apartment, carries deep regret for abandoning his delinquent past and friends. His stagnant life shatters upon learning his former girlfriend Hinata Tachibana and her brother Naoto died due to the Tokyo Manji Gang. Pushed onto train tracks, he time-leaps 12 years into his 14-year-old body, retaining adult consciousness. This power activates via handshakes with those sharing a strong mutual desire to alter events—first with Naoto (12-year leaps), later with Manjiro Sano (10-year leaps). During leaps, his present body enters death-like stasis while the timeline progresses.

Standing 165 cm tall with a light complexion, teenage Takemichi sports bleached blond faux hawk hair and blue/gray (anime) or green/brown (manga) eyes. His adult self has tousled black hair. Notable features include a scar on his left hand from a stab and another on his left foot from a gunshot. He typically wears his Mizo Middle School uniform or the Tokyo Manji Gang's black tokkō-fuku with manifesto sash and a clover necklace matching Hinata's.

Initially profoundly insecure with low self-esteem, he excessively apologizes and cries easily, earning the nickname "crybaby hero" from Atsushi Sendo. Resentful of the wealthy due to financial instability, he neglects personal hygiene. Repeated time-leaps forge fierce determination and resilience. He develops unshakable conviction, refusing to back down against impossible odds. Loyalty drives him to endure brutal harm protecting others. His emotional vulnerability remains, yet his perseverance inspires allies and adversaries, evolving him into an unofficial Tokyo Manji Gang leader.

His core motivation is preventing Hinata's death, later expanding to saving all friends from the gang's violent fate. He intervenes in middle school conflicts, confronting the abusive Kiyomasa to shield friends from forced fights. This attracts Tokyo Manji leaders Mikey and Draken, who recognize his latent heroism. Takemichi joins the gang, rising from low-ranking member to First Division Captain. He later becomes the 11th leader of the Black Dragons, solidifying his delinquent world influence.

In combat, he lacks technical skill or strength, relying on crude tactics like biting. His defining trait is inhuman endurance, surviving incapacitating injuries: multiple blunt force traumas, hand stabbings, and a foot gunshot. His willpower exhausts stronger opponents, and his Shinichiro Sano-like charisma unites factions during crises. He stalls battles for reinforcements and occasionally delivers decisive blows when emotionally charged, temporarily overpowering elites or disarming Tetta Kisaki.

Key relationships shape his path: Hinata Tachibana is his emotional anchor and motivation; Naoto Tachibana acts as his present-day investigative partner; Mikey is both a revered figure and someone whose corrupted future he vows to prevent; Chifuyu Matsuno becomes his closest confidant, aware of his time-leaping and aiding missions. Bonds with Tokyo Manji Gang founders help him mediate conflicts, like reconciling Mikey and Draken.

Significant events include an early encounter with a mechanic (later revealed as Shinichiro Sano) inspiring his "hero" ideal; repeated confrontations with antagonist Tetta Kisaki, culminating in Takemichi overcoming him despite severe injuries; and pivotal gang wars like Bloody Halloween and the Kanto Incident where his interventions alter key deaths. His final timeline sees him sacrificing his time-leaping ability to create a peaceful future for all friends, ultimately marrying Hinata, working a regular job, and retaining his tousled black hair.
