Description
Mayu Miyake is a supporting character in the anime Flowers of Evil. She is a middle school student with short black hair and black eyes, and she appears as a typical classmate among the story’s rural town setting. Mayu is most often seen alongside her friend Ai Kinoshita, and she represents the perspective of an ordinary student who is highly attuned to peer dynamics and social standing within her class. She places great importance on her friendships and tends to follow the group’s expectations.

Her role in the story is minor but consequential in an early incident: her money is stolen, and after a loose comment by another student, Yamada, the entire class assumes that Sawa Nakamura is the thief. This false suspicion contributes to the growing tension and isolation surrounding Nakamura’s character. Mayu does not actively drive the plot forward beyond this point, and she remains a background figure who embodies the everyday social pressures and conformity of school life.

In terms of personality, Mayu is unremarkable and largely conventional. She has no notable special abilities or talents. Her development is minimal, as she does not undergo any significant personal change throughout the series. Her key relationship is with Ai Kinoshita, whom she supports and with whom she shares typical adolescent concerns. Indirectly, through the theft incident, she becomes a point of connection between the main characters Takao Kasuga, Nanako Saeki, and Sawa Nakamura, but she never engages directly with their deeper conflicts. Her motivations are rooted in maintaining her social standing and preserving a sense of normalcy in her peer group.
