Description
Hinako Kujou is a dancer living in Osaka who becomes a demon tamer fighting against mysterious invaders. She is nineteen years old and stands 170 centimeters tall. Born into the head family of a distinguished traditional Japanese dance household, she has studied various dance styles from around the world, always striving to perfect her craft. She is the single daughter of the Kujou family head. Her appearance is marked by bright orange hair tied into a ponytail, orange eyes behind blue rectangular glasses, and a distinctive outfit that includes a small black vest, a bright blue tie, a white fur choker, a black mini skirt, and long black gloves.

In terms of personality, Hinako is a passionate individual with a strong sense of justice and a firm belief in human decency. She behaves like an older sister figure to those around her, constantly looking out for others. Her dedication to helping people is so intense that she becomes nearly reckless when problems arise, showing a willingness to put her own life on the line to save others. She believes her purpose is to protect the lives of the people, and her appearance and clothing choices reflect her desire to make a strong impact rather than blend in. Hinako maintains a rivalry with Airi Ban, as both have talents in the entertainment field but hold contrasting views. While Hinako perseveres with her dream of dancing and has the strong constitution to follow her goals, Airi had previously abandoned her own dreams more bitterly.

Hinako's primary motivation throughout the story is to use her abilities to aid and protect others. She initially seeks to join JP's, the organization fighting the supernatural threats, specifically hoping that membership will allow her to help people on a larger scale. Her skills as a dancer become critically important during the operation to defeat the Septentrione known as Alioth. Because Shiva, the Lord of Dance, is needed for the plan, Hinako is chosen based on her aptitude for dancing, which is far more efficient than other dancers available to JP's. She performs a ritual dance to summon Shiva, who agrees to lend her his strength once as a result.

Throughout the anime, Hinako forms several key relationships. She has a close bond with fellow demon tamer Keita Wakui, who helped her when she was trapped under debris, leading her to join JP's. She grieves deeply over his death. Her rivalry with Airi Ban evolves over time, with Airi eventually admitting to being impressed by Hinako's performance during Shiva's summoning. Hinako also develops a caring relationship with Hibiki, the protagonist, whom she comforts and supports, at one point hugging him as he breaks down in tears upon seeing her alive.

Hinako plays a significant role in the main story. She participates in the defense against Merak, taking a heavy blow meant for Hibiki and becoming severely injured. Later, she is present when Io becomes a sacrifice and fights against Benetnasch after receiving a death clip. In a pivotal moment, she is mortally wounded and asks Daichi to take care of Io as her final request. In the world reset by Hibiki's wish, Hinako decides to leave her family household to travel and test how popular her dancing skills can become, after which she will consider taking over the family business.

As a demon tamer, Hinako possesses notable combat abilities. Her fighting style emphasizes Strength and Agility, allowing her to hit hard and fast, though this comes at the cost of lower Vitality and HP, leaving her vulnerable to counterattacks. Her stats include a resistance to Ice attacks. She is known to be an excellent user of multi-hit physical skills in the game version, though her low health makes her susceptible to pressure from moderately powerful attacks.
