Description
Asakura is one of the two title characters from the anime, a high school student whose most defining feature is his all-consuming obsession with female breasts. He has a distinctive afro hairstyle and a unique speech pattern, characterized by a slight stutter or a noticeable pause before the last syllable of his sentences. His motivations are almost entirely singular: he dreams of becoming a teacher, but his reasoning is far from academic. Asakura desires this career path solely to be perpetually surrounded by attractive female students, and his ultimate goal is to work at an all-girls school.

In the story, Asakura serves as the unexpected object of affection for nearly everyone around him, despite his blatant and one-track personality. His best friend is Ishida, a stoic and serious young man who dreams of opening a flower shop with Asakura after they graduate. This friendship is the core dynamic of the series, with Ishida displaying strong, unspoken feelings for Asakura, often blushing when they speak. Asakura seems largely oblivious to Ishida’s romantic interest, treating him as a close friend who is willing to go to great lengths to help him, such as when Ishida attempts to rehabilitate Asakura's poor academic performance through extreme training methods. Asakura also attracts the attention of another classmate, Yamada, who dreams of opening a bookstore with him, creating a slapstick rivalry where Asakura is the passive prize being fought over.

Asakura himself undergoes little in the way of emotional development, as his personality remains consistently focused on his superficial goal. He shows little interest in studying and once ranked at the bottom of his class, putting his dream of becoming a teacher in jeopardy. His lack of interest in anything besides his fixation is so extreme that he is completely unresponsive to the advances of a teacher's daughter, not because he is chaste, but because she does not have the large breasts he desires. While not possessing any conventional abilities, Asakura is remarkably durable within the series’ absurdist reality, often surviving the violent and reality-defying consequences of Ishida’s actions, such as being thrown into outer space.
