Description
Charles Yoshino is a central heroine in the D.C. III ~Da Capo III~ story, appearing in two distinct but connected settings. Her role is defined by her profound affection for the protagonist, Kiyotaka, and a deep internal struggle tied to her magical abilities.

In the prologue, which takes place on Hatsune Island, Charles is introduced as Kiyotaka’s older cousin who came to Japan from Europe three years prior. The two live together in the same apartment. Her nickname for Kiyotaka is Taka-kun, and he calls her Ruru-nee. She is a third-year student at Kazami Gakuen and a member of both the official newspaper club and the student council. Her personality is sociable, open, and aggressive in her displays of affection, which includes a strong fondness for skin contact. She often tries to sleep in Kiyotaka's futon or bathe with him, driven by a brazenly declared belief that marriage between cousins is legal. Despite her doting and seemingly capable demeanor, she is notoriously bad at cooking, with her meals being described as poisonous and capable of making those who eat them ill for days. She has a hobby of knitting. Her physical appearance includes long blonde hair, red eyes, and a height of 161 centimeters. She has no particular favorite or disliked foods and notably does not gain weight no matter how much she eats. Her name, Charles, was chosen by her father who was expecting a son, and although her mother wanted to call her Charlotte, the name stuck, a fact Charles herself is satisfied with.

In the main story, set in 1950s London at the Kazamidori Magic School, her name is Charles Marros. Here, she is not a cousin but the student council president, a master of first-year classes, and a figure extremely popular among the students. Her personality is more formal and less overtly affectionate; she addresses Kiyotaka by his full name with honorifics, and he does the same in return. She has a familiar, a reindeer named Et. Her core internal conflict revolves around an inability to use magic, despite being a scion of the Santa Claus clan, a lineage of wizards who possess the special ability to grant the wishes of others. Her trauma stems from a past event involving her younger, terminally ill brother, also named Et. In an attempt to use her magic to grant her brother’s dearest wish on Christmas Eve, she believed her magic failed and caused his death. In reality, her magic succeeded; Et, wanting to end his own suffering and seeing his sister overwork herself caring for him, wished to die. Realizing the grief this caused, Et used the lingering magic for a final wish, to stay by his sister's side forever. His soul was then transferred into the body of the reindeer doll familiar. Unable to communicate with Charles, Et remains by her side as a silent companion, unaware of his presence. This perceived failure prevents Charles from using any magic for the majority of the story.

The character's personal route focuses on overcoming this trauma. Through her relationship with Kiyotaka, she eventually confronts the truth about her brother's wish and her successful magic, allowing her to heal. Her notable ability is this Santa Claus magic, which can create miracles ranging from simple objects to complex realities, fueled by the power of a wish. This magic is considered superior even to that of Rikka Morizono in the specific domain of wish-granting. In the story’s concluding Da Capo route, Charles’s ability is instrumental in resolving the central conflict of the infinite loop, as she combines the gathered hopes of the people of London with her power to perform a great miracle that dispels a magical fog. The narrative implies that after these events, she becomes a great wizard dedicated to making children happy, and she is later confirmed to be the grandmother of Aisia, a character from the wider series.
