Description
Aoi Yukimura is a shy and introverted high school student whose childhood fall from playground equipment resulted in a broken leg and acrophobia, a fear of heights. This accident steered her toward indoor pursuits like sewing, cooking, and reading, and led to social isolation. Her life changes after reuniting with her childhood friend Hinata Kuraue, who inspires her to confront her fears through mountain climbing and rekindles a forgotten promise to watch a mountain sunrise together. Initially reluctant, Aoi begins with small local climbs such as Mount Tenran, gradually building her skills through online research, practice with outdoor cooking, and learning to use gear like tents and backpacks. She takes a part-time job at a pastry shop to fund her climbing equipment, where she also learns baking. Her domestic talents include sewing and knitting, which she uses to create handmade hiking accessories like hats and gloves. Through mountaineering, Aoi forms meaningful friendships with Hinata, experienced climber Kaede Saitō, Kokona Aoba, Honoka Kurosaki, classmates Mio, Yuri, and Kasumi, and coworker Hikari Onozuka. A significant hurdle comes when altitude sickness forces her to abandon a Mount Fuji ascent, but this setback fuels her determination to improve. Throughout her journey, Aoi grows more confident and resilient while retaining her reserved nature, occasional stubbornness, and love for quiet indoor hobbies.
