Description
Momo'o Inugami is a supporting character in the anime Good Luck Girl!. He is a canine deity, often referred to as a dog god, who is typically summoned by the goddess of misfortune Momiji to assist in her mission to drain the fortune energy from the protagonist Ichiko Sakura. Momo'o has the ability to transform between a human form and a small chihuahua, with a strong preference for the latter. In his human shape, he has heterochromia, meaning each of his eyes is a different color. His canine form grants him exceptionally sharp senses of smell and hearing.
Momo'o's most defining personality trait is his pronounced masochistic nature. He derives intense pleasure from being tormented, punished, or otherwise mistreated, particularly by women such as Momiji and Ichiko. This unusual disposition drives much of his behavior and his interactions with others. He is energetic, enthusiastic, and remarkably loyal, though his loyalty can shift depending on who provides the most satisfying punishment. His motivations are largely centered on seeking out and indulging in experiences that trigger his masochistic tendencies.
In the story, Momo'o begins as a minion summoned by Momiji to help fight Ichiko. However, after Ichiko swiftly punishes him in the fifth episode of the anime, he immediately becomes her ally, finding her treatment of him deeply pleasurable. From that point onward, he frequently visits Ichiko of his own accord, hoping to receive similar punishment again. His role is primarily comic relief, providing humor through his exaggerated reactions to pain and his single-minded pursuit of discomfort. He remains a loyal, if unorthodox, ally to Ichiko for the remainder of the series.
Momo'o's key relationships are with Momiji, who summons him, and Ichiko, who becomes his preferred source of punishment. He also interacts with other characters such as Kumagai, the teddy bear familiar of Momiji, and Bobby Statice, the wandering monk, though these connections are less central. His development is minimal; he does not undergo significant change but rather consistently serves as a source of comedy through his unwavering masochistic personality.
His notable abilities include shape-shifting between human and chihuahua forms, enhanced senses of smell and hearing in his canine form, and considerable combat capability when needed. A unique limitation is that if he experiences too much pleasure, whether masochistic or otherwise, he is forcibly reverted to his human form. This quirk adds to the comedic situations surrounding his character.
