Description
Mist is an anime original character who appears in the second half of the series Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne, first introduced at the end of episode 27 and becoming a recurring antagonist from episode 28 onward. She is a demon of pure lineage, making her more powerful than other demons such as Noin. Her physical appearance includes grey hair and golden eyes, and she is consistently hostile and driven by a single-minded desire to destroy the protagonist, Maron Kusakabe, in her identity as the phantom thief Jeanne.
Mist's primary motivation is to kill Jeanne, viewing her as a direct enemy to be eliminated. This deep hatred extends to Jeanne's allies, particularly the rival thief Sinbad, whose repeated interference in her attacks only fuels her anger. She possesses a candy box that acts as the source of her power and is used to contain other demons. When this candy box is broken during battle, Mist's strength is severely compromised; however, after her defeat, Maron takes pity on her and returns the candy box. With her last words, Mist retrieves the box and disappears, never to be seen again.
Her role in the story is that of a formidable demonic antagonist who appears near the series's climax to pose a direct threat to the main character. Key relationships include her enmity with Jeanne, her rivalry with Sinbad, and an indirect connection to Noin, who reveals the secret of Mist's candy box. In terms of development, Mist remains a single-minded and unchanging adversary; she does not undergo any redemption or alteration of her goals, ultimately vanishing after being defeated. Her notable abilities include her status as a pure breed demon, making her exceptionally strong, and the use of her candy box as a demonic focus. In a powered-up state, she becomes lively and capable of withstanding even Jeanne's most powerful attacks, though this transformation also makes her resemble certain other beings.
