Description
Cosette Schneider was a young French woman who escaped her war-torn homeland and relocated to America three years before the main events. As the younger sister of Anna Schneider, she shared a close bond with Takt Asahina, a gifted pianist. Her cheerful and positive nature complemented her deep admiration for Takt's musical passion, and she often encouraged him to emerge from his reclusive tendencies. A skilled pianist herself, having learned from her mother in France, Cosette held a special fondness for the Tarte Tatin prepared by Anna.
Tragedy struck when Cosette suffered a mortal wound during a D2 attack shortly after a public piano duet with Takt. With no other recourse, she underwent a transformation into a Musicart using a white stone pendant she carried—a process that cost her memories and personality, reincarnating her as the Musicart Destiny.
Destiny draws her power from Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67, the “Symphony of Destiny.” She initially displays an emotionless and stoic demeanor, speaking in a steady, respectful yet often blunt tone. Her actions align strictly with her personal values, rendering her gentle but inflexible. She is slightly airheaded and prone to unexpected remarks. Despite her ladylike and elegant bearing, she possesses an unconventional personality and requires immense caloric intake, especially sweets, to function without draining her Conductor’s life force.
In her transformed state, Destiny’s appearance differs from Cosette’s: red, eyeliner-like markings frame her eyes, and six stars appear around her left eye when using her abilities. Her eyes become a solid blue, reflecting her detachment. A red rose accents her hair, often accompanied by rose petals, and a golden disk ornament symbolizing the Voyager Golden Record adorns her head.
Driven by the singular goal of annihilating D2s, Destiny wields superhuman strength, capable of carrying a piano and engaging monsters in combat. Her abilities include enhanced speed and masterful dueling skills, which proved sufficient to overwhelm another incarnation of herself. She employs named techniques such as Judgment Gate for powerful counterattacks, Time to Strike for consecutive slashes, Thorny Path to impale foes and regain health, and Critical Motives to amplify her damage and defense.
Over time, Destiny begins to exhibit traces of human emotion, subtly echoing Cosette’s personality through her exchanges with Takt and Anna. This evolution reaches its peak during a final battle where both she and Takt lie dying from overexertion. In her last moments, Destiny performs a Kiss of Life, transferring her remaining energy to save Takt. As she vanishes, she offers a Dying Declaration of Love and her first true smile, revealing a deep emotional bond. She leaves behind a transformation trinket, which Anna Schneider inherits, becoming the new vessel for the Destiny Musicart while retaining her own identity.
