Description
Noin Claude, also known under the human alias Hijiri Shikaido, is a demon who serves as one of the three main antagonists in the second season of Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne and in the manga adaptation. To blend in with human society, he assumes the identity of a history teacher at Maron Kusakabe's school, using the name Hijiri Shikaido. His disguise is notably handsome, making him popular among the student body. Five centuries before the events of the series, Noin Claude was a human knight who fought alongside the original Jeanne d'Arc and was deeply in love with her. This past connection shapes much of his character, as he carries lingering emotions and resentment from that era. As a demon, he possesses the ability to sense when and where a person is possessed by a demon, and he demonstrates skill in combat. In the story, Noin Claude initially approaches Maron and Chiaki under the pretense of being a teacher, but his true nature gradually comes to light. He is driven by a volatile mix of rage toward God and a twisted sense of morality; he blasphemes and curses the divine in furious outbursts, yet he retains a degree of moral restraint that distinguishes him from mindless evil. His role shifts from a hidden antagonist to a direct threat as he kidnaps Maron and reveals his demonic form. Despite his antagonism, his unresolved feelings for the original Jeanne d'Arc and a faint remnant of his former humanity lend complexity to his actions. His key relationships include his historical bond with Jeanne d'Arc, his adversarial yet entangled connection with Maron (the modern reincarnation of Jeanne), and his interactions with Chiaki. Over the course of the narrative, Noin Claude's character develops from a seemingly ordinary teacher into a powerful demon whose motivations are rooted in the pain of a love lost centuries ago. His notable abilities include demonic strength, the power to detect demonic possession, and proficiency in hand‑to‑hand combat.
