Description
Mizuka Irei is a supporting character in the anime Robotics;Notes. She works as an employee of her family's business, the Irei General Store, located near Chou Tanegashima High School. Irei is a childhood friend of Misaki Senomiya, and she is also an alumnus of the same school as Misaki and Mitsuhiko Nagafukada, whom she affectionately calls Mis and Mitch respectively. She is deeply knowledgeable about the island of Tanegashima, its residents, and local rumors, often serving as a source of information for the main characters.

Irei's role in the story is tied to her loyalty to Misaki and her involvement in a pivotal incident. After the scientist Ko Kimijima was killed, Irei discovered his body and chose to hide it, an action that prevented Misaki from being blamed for the murder. This act demonstrates her protective nature and willingness to take risks for those she cares about. Later in the narrative, Irei becomes an unwitting victim of the Committee of 300, the secret organization behind the series' central conspiracy. Her HUG exoskeleton, a robotic mobility aid she relies on due to a physical disability, is remotely hijacked and driven berserk. Unable to control it, she is forced over the edge of a cliff, resulting in her death. This event underscores the reach and ruthlessness of the Committee.

Irei's background includes a close friendship with Misaki, and she frequently keeps an eye on Kaito Yashio and Akiho Senomiya, the main protagonists, from her position at the general store. She is also known for selling specialty items such as Passion Fruit Hoppan buns. Her personality comes across as grounded and community-oriented, with a practical knowledge of the island and its affairs. Her motivations are largely tied to supporting her friends and maintaining her family's store, though her decisive action in hiding the body reveals a willingness to intervene in larger events when necessary. In terms of development, she remains a steady, reliable presence until her sudden and tragic end, which serves as a catalyst for the main characters to confront the conspiracy more directly. Notable abilities include her extensive local knowledge and her use of the HUG exoskeleton, a technological assistive device that reflects the series' focus on robotics and augmented reality.
