TV-Series
Description
Kars is the leader of the Pillar Men, a race of ancient, superhuman beings who cannot tolerate sunlight. He is a central figure in the original continuity of the series, serving as a primary antagonist. As a genius among his kind, Kars is responsible for the creation of the Stone Masks, artifacts that transform humans into vampires. This invention indirectly sets off the chain of events that leads to the rise of other major villains and the tragedies that befall the Joestar family.

Driven by an immense ambition, Kars refuses to accept the limitations of his species. He despises the sun, their only natural weakness, and seeks to transcend his own biology to become the ultimate life form. His goal is to gain dominion over the sun and stand at the pinnacle of all life on Earth. To achieve this, he requires two things: a perfected Stone Mask and the power of the Red Stone of Aja, a gem that can amplify the mask's abilities. When his own race opposed his dangerous experiments and his vision for their future, Kars responded with utter ruthlessness, slaughtering nearly all of them. He spared only his most loyal comrade, Esidisi, and two infants, Wamuu and Santana, who would later serve as his subordinates.

In terms of personality, Kars is cold, calculating, and incredibly persistent. He is devoid of romantic spirit and believes that the method used to achieve victory is irrelevant; only the final outcome matters. This pragmatic and treacherous nature means he will employ any underhanded tactic, from using decoys to taking hostages, to achieve his objectives. Despite his profound indifference and cruelty toward humans, whom he often views as mere food, Kars possesses a notable and strange compassion for other forms of life. He has gone out of his way to save a small dog from being run over and has carefully avoided crushing flowers during a fall. He also displays a genuine, if brutal, respect for his fellow Pillar Men, seeking to avenge Esidisi and Wamuu after they are defeated.

Within the story, Kars and his companions awaken in the 20th century after a millennia-long hibernation. They clash directly with the Hamon users, a group of warriors who utilize a solar-based energy technique, and the Nazis, who seek to exploit the Pillar Men's powers. His primary nemesis becomes Joseph Joestar, a resourceful and unpredictable Hamon user who kills Esidisi. Kars manipulates events to obtain the Red Stone of Aja, ultimately betraying a promised fair fight to mortally wound the Hamon master Lisa Lisa and claim the gem. By placing the Red Stone-enhanced mask on his face, Kars finally achieves his goal and transforms into the Ultimate Being.

This transformation represents the culmination of his development. As the ultimate life form, Kars loses all his former weaknesses, including his vulnerability to sunlight and Hamon. He gains the DNA and abilities of every organism on Earth, allowing him to shapeshift his body at will, grow wings for supersonic flight, and even generate living creatures from his own cells. His intellect is boosted to an IQ of 400, and his Hamon is now hundreds of times more powerful than a human master's, potent enough to melt human flesh. However, this newfound godhood amplifies his arrogance. Despite his immense power, he is outsmarted by Joseph Joestar in a final confrontation at a volcano. A volcanic eruption launches him into outer space, where the absolute cold freezes his body solid. Immortal and unable to die, he drifts through the cosmos forever, eventually ceasing to think.

Kars possesses several notable abilities even before his transformation. As a Pillar Man, every cell in his body can produce a potent digestive acid, allowing him to absorb and devour living beings on contact. He can also regenerate from most wounds and manipulate his own body's structure. His signature combat technique is Light Mode, where he extends razor-sharp, chainsaw-like blades from his forearms. These blades have microscopic barbs that move at high speed, allowing him to slice through thick steel and even gunfire while also creating a blinding flash of light.
