Maria Shaingu, a noblewoman from Euro Britannia, is a supporting character in Code Geass: Akito the Exiled. She is the adoptive mother of Shin Hyuga Shaing and the biological mother of Alice. After Shin was introduced to her husband through Manfredi, the family adopted him, and Maria loved and cared for him as her own son, treating him with the same affection she gave to her daughter. As Shin's mental state deteriorated and he became increasingly unstable, he used his Geass on Maria, forcing her to stab Alice and die. Later in the story, she appears to Shin as a ghostly vision, imploring him to join her. Maria's role is primarily tied to Shin's backstory and fall into madness, and her genuine love for both her children tragically leads to her being used as a tool of their destruction. She does not possess any notable combat abilities or supernatural powers, and her character remains defined by her familial relationships and the tragic end brought about by her son's Geass.
