Description
Kigurumi Harōkitei is one of the five young female rakugo performers at the center of the story. She is the youngest member of the group and holds the entry-level rank of zenza, the most junior position in the troupe. Her name is a pun on the popular character Hello Kitty and the word kigurumi, which refers to a type of mascot costume, a playful nod to her outwardly cute persona. In terms of appearance, she has cream-colored hair and a childlike figure, which contributes to her being perceived as the group's most innocent and pampered member.

Kigurumi’s personality is defined by a sharp and deliberate contrast between her public behavior and her private thoughts. When interacting with others, she cultivates a deceptively innocent facade, pretending to be adorable and expressing interest in cute things, such as a fondness for cats, because this is what is expected of her. However, the audience is privy to her internal monologue, which reveals her true, cynical inner personality. Behind her sweet smile, she is a cool-headed and sharp-tongued realist who is often unimpressed by the conversations around her, making her a classic example of a character who is not as nice or cutesy as she initially appears. This hidden side comes with a surprising and unexpected contrast: a genuine passion for hardcore death metal music, which she can be seen listening to.

Within the group's dynamic, Kigurumi serves as a source of quiet commentary and dry wit, often seeing through the absurdity of the situations the girls find themselves in. Her primary role in the story is as a supporting member of the ensemble, contributing to the surreal and meandering conversations that form the core of the narrative. Unlike her energetic counterpart Marii Buratei or the perpetually unlucky Kukuru Anrakutei, Kigurumi often remains more reserved in the group's antics, though her internal thoughts provide a contrasting, more jaded perspective on the events unfolding. Her key relationships are with the other four performers, and despite her cynical interior, she remains an integrated part of the group, often joining in their travels around Tokyo and their discussions on everything from winning the lottery to the nature of Halloween.

Kigurumi does not undergo a significant character arc or dramatic development. The series is episodic, and her personality remains consistent throughout, with the joke being the persistent gap between her cute appearance and her deadpan, cynical internal reality. There are subtle hints and discussions among fans about her having a more complex background, including potential references to her being divorced, but these remain as implied nuances rather than fully explored backstory elements. Her notable abilities are less about physical prowess and more about her skill in maintaining her public persona while harboring a completely different interior world. She is also a competent rakugo performer, able to tell stories on stage using the traditional art form, though her performances are rarely the focus of the series. This duality, combined with her unexpected musical tastes, makes her a key source of humor through ironic contrast.
