Description
Itsuki Noya, heir to the wealthy Noya Group conglomerate, enrolls at Ebisugawa High School intending to join the astronomy club ("Tenmon-bu") due to his interest in space. He accidentally enters the identically pronounced "Astronomical Club" ("Tenmon-bu" with different kanji), a group composed entirely of female otaku with diverse interests, particularly fujoshi culture.
Unaware of his mistake, Itsuki faces bizarre initiation tests from club president Kyoko Todayama. Coerced into crossdressing to remain in the club and prevent its disbandment (as Kyoko only wanted female members), he consistently presents as female during activities, featuring neck-length gray hair and gray eyes.
His personal maid, Izumiko Todayama (Kyoko's younger sister), locates him at the club and is shocked by his crossdressed state. Izumiko reveals his wealthy background and their master-servant relationship, though she frequently treats him as a plaything, assigning him the name "Elizabeth Margaret." Despite this dynamic, she displays genuine underlying affection. A rivalry over "ownership" of Itsuki erupts between Izumiko and Kyoko, prompting Izumiko to transfer schools and join the Astronomical Club. She takes an active interest in refining his crossdressing.
Within the club, Itsuki functions primarily as a passive observer amidst the chaotic antics driven by eccentric members. These include Kyoko's delusional behavior and harassment of fellow member Hakata Kanamori, Rikei Hiromatsu's cat obsession, and confrontations with tsundere student council president Yuka Iseda. He exhibits adaptability and a tendency to avoid conflict or negative emotions, going along with the often nonsensical or parody-driven escapades. Analyses suggest traits associated with Enneagram Type 7 ("The Enthusiast"), indicating optimism, a desire for new experiences, and an avoidance of discomfort or boredom. He is also described as energetic and socially adept.
His character development involves resigned acceptance of his situation. He transitions from initial confusion and nervousness to enduring the club's chaos, including Izumiko's attentions and Kyoko's schemes, without significant attempts to leave or radically change his circumstances. His wealthy brother, Eiji, shares Kyoko's delusional tendencies but operates at a "professional level." His personality, goals, and relationships remain largely unchanged across all media within this established dynamic.
