Description
Honoka Sawada is the central character of her story, a fourteen-year-old middle school student whose life has been marked by significant loss. She lost her parents at a young age and subsequently came to live with her aunt, Rikako. This early tragedy has deeply influenced her personality, making her a notably shy and timid girl who lacks self-confidence. Because of her gentle and quiet nature, she is often taken advantage of by her classmates, who tend to bully her, leaving her feeling very lonely and isolated both at home and at school.

Before the extraordinary events that change her life, Honoka is portrayed as a crybaby who does not easily voice her own thoughts or feelings. Her loneliness is so profound that she is described as not believing in God, angels, or devils, having lost faith in things she cannot see. Her deepest wish is simply to no longer be so alone. This wish is answered in an unexpected way when a strange baby demon named Mao appears on her bed. From that moment, she is thrust into the role of Mao’s substitute or adoptive mother.

Her kind and caring nature makes her an amazing mother figure to Mao, whom she cherishes deeply. This new responsibility gives her a sense of purpose and begins to fill the void in her life. In her role, she takes great care of him, and he, in turn, adores her as his "mama". One of the most significant relationships in her life becomes her connection with Shin Sugisaki, who becomes a father figure to Mao. At first, Honoka is easily frightened of Shin, often misinterpreting his demeanor as anger. However, as she gets to know him, she comes to understand his true personality and begins to see him as an incredibly dependable person. As the series progresses, her feelings for him grow, and she eventually falls in love with him.

Honoka’s social world also includes a childhood friend named Kyou Toono, though her primary focus becomes her new family. Her personal development is central to the story. Starting as a lonely, bullied girl without confidence, she gradually becomes more assured through her relationship with Mao and Shin. She learns to rely on others and discovers her own inner strength as a caretaker. While Honoka does not possess any supernatural powers herself, her most notable ability is her immense capacity for care and affection, which allows her to raise a devil baby successfully. Her growing maternal instincts and her ability to provide a loving home for Mao are what drive the narrative and her personal journey forward.
