Charotte is a female bumblebee Jewelpet distinguished by her black and yellow striped body, pink antennae, white fluff around her neck, and light blue wings. Her jewel eyes are a distinctive purple charoite, matching the purple crystal bow on her head and the honeycomb-shaped charoite jewel she wears around her neck. Her design reflects her nature as the only insect-based Jewelpet in the franchise, embodying the Challenging Spirit.

In Jewelpet Sunshine, Charotte is a student in the Plum class with a background as a former delinquent. Her antisocial behavior originated from a deeply painful experience: she overheard a friend making an insincere friendship confession, which led her to distrust others and become withdrawn. This changed when Shouko Aizawa protected her from bullies, earning Charotte's fierce and unwavering loyalty. She subsequently joined Shouko's circle of friends, embracing their delinquent persona as part of their group dynamic. Charotte shares a dormitory room with Kaede Kikuchi.

Her personality within Sunshine is that of a tsundere, often presenting a tough exterior that masks her more vulnerable feelings. Her most notable relationship is her romantic involvement with Katori, a female mosquito who is also her classmate. Charotte appears unaware of Katori's true gender throughout their relationship, which is portrayed as sweet and devoted. Her loyalty to Shouko is so profound that she functions as a close confidante and, on occasion, is even used as a projectile weapon by Shouko in physical confrontations. She also demonstrates a habit of speaking for the usually silent Katori.

Charotte's magical abilities are tied to her designation as the Jewelpet of Challenging Spirit. Her magic focuses on courage enhancement and emotional balance, designed to help individuals overcome their fears, cast aside doubts and confusion, and face challenges with renewed confidence. Her powers can also balance a person's mind, body, and emotions. She possesses a stinger that she can use as a weapon, which she can also fire from a distance as a projectile. Unlike real bees, she does not suffer ill effects from stinging and can grow a new stinger quickly.

While Jewelpet Sunshine is her most prominent role, Charotte first appeared in the earlier series Jewelpet Twinkle as a contestant in the Jewel Star Grand Prix, partnered with a character named Sagan. However, her role in Sunshine is largely self-contained, focusing on her life as a high-achieving yet rebellious student at Sunshine Academy and her growth as she learns to trust and form close bonds with Shouko and her other classmates. Her journey highlights her transformation from a lonely individual betrayed by a friend to a fiercely protective and loyal companion within her found family.
