Description
Dragon Principal, known in Japanese as Doragon kōchō, is the headmaster of Sunshine Academy in Jewelpet Sunshine. As his name suggests, he is a large dragon, specifically a Western-style dragon with a red body, a long pink mane running down his spine, bat-like wings, four yellow horns, and spiky fins on his cheeks. His true name is never revealed, and he is one of the Wise Ones, a fact disclosed late in the series.

In terms of personality, Dragon Principal is portrayed as gentle and remarkably laid-back. He spends the majority of his time sleeping on top of the school building and rarely takes an active role in daily academic affairs. Despite his imposing appearance, which resembles a classic RPG enemy, he lacks any malicious or fearsome demeanor. Instead, he has a fondness for puns and anticlimactic jokes, as seen when he rewards a class with fruit-flavored chewing gum after misdirecting them to expect a trip abroad. His primary motivation seems to be maintaining the school in his own passive way, intervening only when major events or crises demand his attention.

Within the story, Dragon Principal serves as the highest authority at Sunshine Academy. Although he is mostly absent from classroom-level conflicts, he makes appearances during important school functions such as sports festivals and ceremonial occasions. His role becomes more critical in the final story arc, where he is possessed by the Dark Queen. This possession forces a confrontation, and he is ultimately defeated by the student Hinata, which frees him from the villain's control. The arc also reveals his status as one of the Wise Ones, adding significance to his position and hinting at a deeper history in the world of Jewel Land.

Regarding his abilities, Dragon Principal possesses the physical traits inherent to his dragon species, including flight, great size, and likely considerable strength. Beyond these, the series does not extensively detail any magical powers. His status as a Wise One implies a level of ancient wisdom or hidden power, but this is not explored in depth. Overall, he functions as a distant but benevolent figurehead, more inclined toward observation and occasional deadpan humor than active leadership.
