Description
Gyan Cinquedea is a pivotal antagonist in the Inazuma Eleven GO series, recognized as the powerful and enigmatic founder of the Fifth Sector, an organization that has seized control of soccer through rigid management and regulation. His ultimate goal is to create a world where everyone can play soccer equally, a philosophy born from a deeply personal and difficult past. As a child growing up in poverty in Germany, Cinquedea loved soccer but was unable to play because he could not afford a ball. In a moment of desperate desire, he stole one, an act for which he was caught and imprisoned. This traumatic experience instilled in him a twisted belief that by controlling the sport and eliminating inequality, he could prevent others from suffering the same fate.
Driven by this ideology, Cinquedea rose to become a powerful entrepreneur and political influencer, using his resources to establish the Fifth Sector and anoint a figurehead, the Holy Emperor, to rule over its soccer pyramid. Operating from the shadows, he enforced strict rules and brutally punished any form of rebellion, including ordering the closure of schools that participated in uprisings against his regime.
In the story, Cinquedea is first seen observing the Holy Road soccer tournament. He has a significant encounter with the protagonist Matsukaze Tenma while playing soccer with children in a park, engaging in a quiet conversation about the sport. As the Raimon team progresses, defying the Fifth Sectors predetermined match results, Cinquedea takes direct action. During the final match against Seidouzan, revealing his dissatisfaction with the teams performance, he dismisses the coach Axel Blaze and takes over. He then shocks everyone by substituting the entire Seidouzan team with his own private, elite team, Dragonlink, led by his son.
His relationship with his son, Quentin Cinquedea, is a key factor in his motivations, though it is portrayed as complex. Cinquedea tries to instill his own beliefs in his son, teaching him the value of the soccer ball. However, his methods are authoritarian, and Quentin serves as the captain of the fearsome Dragonlink team, a squad of players stripped of their individuality, functioning like a military unit.
After witnessing Raimons victory against the seemingly unbeatable Dragonlink in a fierce, rain-soaked match, Cinquedea undergoes a significant development. He is shocked by the loss but ultimately realizes that his philosophy of controlled soccer was a mistake, a realization that leads him to willingly step down from his position. Despite this change of heart, his involvement with the Fifth Sector is revealed to have a deeper layer, as he was acting on requests from a mysterious figure known as X to help identify gifted children known as Second Stage Children, whose potential surpassed human limits.
While not a player on the field, his notable abilities lie in his immense political and financial power, his strategic mind, and his absolute authority. He demonstrates his power by single-handedly replacing an entire team, manipulating matches from behind the scenes, and running a global training facility. Cinquedea is a tall man with dark tanned skin and distinctive pink hair styled in a sharp, upward fashion. He is almost always seen in an immaculate white suit over a red shirt and black tie, a visual representation of his cold, calculated, and dominant presence.
