Description
Hebert Müller is a prominent antagonist within the Phi-Brain narrative, serving as an executive of the POG organization and the head of its Far East Division. He is an individual who has long operated within the shadows of the organization, and his methods often involve orchestrating puzzle battles that are designed to result in significant catastrophes. His aggressive and dangerous approach to puzzles has made him a figure who is both feared and resented by his own superiors within POG.
Driven by a deep-seated obsession with victory and a refusal to accept defeat, Müller's primary motivation is his burning hatred for the protagonist, Kaito Daimon, as well as Luke Banjo Crossfield. This enmity stems from his initial failures against them, which led to his downfall within the organization. He was ultimately fired from POG after being stabbed in the back of the head by Luke, an event that fueled his desire for revenge and his determination to return even stronger.
Throughout the story, Müller evolves from a high-ranking POG operative into a commander of the Orpheus Order. His role is consistently that of a recurring and resourceful adversary. Even after being seemingly defeated, he returns in later seasons with new power and authority, such as when he is appointed to the position of Master Brain by President Enigma, demonstrating his persistent threat to the main characters. His schemes often escalate to the point of attempting mutual destruction, such as trying to self-destruct an underground cave, though he is occasionally saved by others, like Iwashimizu.
In terms of abilities, Hebert Müller is distinguished by his unorthodox and powerful use of the Orpheus Rings. Unlike most users who wear a single ring, Müller is shown to wield multiple rings at once. In one confrontation, he wore a yellow ring on his left hand and a white ring on his right, achieved by implanting a new personality into himself to overcome his original self's acknowledgment of defeat. Later, he escalates this further by attaching four Orpheus Rings to his hands and feet, an illegal configuration that makes him an exceptionally formidable puzzle solver and a unique threat.
