Born Rain Lilith Taylor in Seattle on May 11, 1992, Honolulu's life began with tragedy. Her Hawaiian mother died from complications during premature labor aboard a cruise ship. Raised solely by her cruise ship captain father, she traveled with him instead of attending school, gaining deep maritime knowledge but becoming reserved around strangers. Her father withheld details of her mother's death throughout her childhood. Initially serving as her father's secretary and assistant, Honolulu disliked her prominent physique due to unwanted attention and practical challenges with equipment. When Siren threats emerged, halting her father's cruise line, he took her on a final voyage to Honolulu, Hawaii. There, he revealed her mother's heritage and visited her grave. This emotional journey inspired Honolulu to become a warship to protect others and honor her parents. Learning her father would lose his job, he encouraged her departure, gifting her his captain's hat as a memento. In *Slow Ahead!*, Honolulu retains her reserved nature but shows tsundere tendencies, especially regarding her appearance. She expresses discomfort when her sister St. Louis pressures her into wearing a revealing yukata at a festival to attract the Commander. Though reluctant, she participates and later wins a date with him, showing subtle pleasure. Her embarrassment surfaces again when Laffey asks for "boob pillows"; Honolulu instinctively blurts that only the Commander has such privileges, revealing her affection. Interpersonally cautious, Honolulu voices initial frustration when assigned a male partner but gradually warms through shared duties. She deflects romantic compliments about her looks with flustered denials. St. Louis acts as her social catalyst, pushing her into festivals and interactions she would typically avoid.
