TV-Series
Description
Ana Gram is a student at Root Academy who holds the title of Da Vinci, marking them as one of the institution’s elite puzzle solvers known as Sages or Solvers. Their name is a pun on the word “anagram,” fitting for a series filled with wordplay. Ana is deeply eccentric and reclusive, rarely attending regular classes and instead spending almost all their time in the school’s art room. They have green eyes and typically wear a long white and yellow dress-like garment, an orange scarf, and white bandages wrapped around their arms. Their appearance, voice, and mannerisms are so feminine that other characters consistently mistake them for a girl, a misunderstanding that is often met with indifference. Ana is consumed by a passion for art, demonstrating an encyclopedic knowledge of famous paintings and artists, and claims to receive guidance from the spirits of historical artists who inspire their creative work. They also have a peculiar knack for communicating with and attracting animals. Ana often refers to themself in the third person using the name “Ana,” speaks with occasional childish reduplication, and has a signature phrase, “Howawan... Fuwawaan...” Despite their otherworldly talents, they are sweet, socially awkward, and somewhat detached from everyday concerns. Ana is a steadfast member of Kaito Daimon’s core team of Solvers, accompanying Kaito and Nonoha Itou on dangerous puzzle-solving missions. In the second season, they participate in Root Academy’s sliding puzzle battle against the Orpheus Order and later defeat Orpheus Order member Mizerka through calm composure and a free-spirited approach. During that conflict, Ana shares a story about their elder sister Eve, whose chalk drawing inspires Kaito’s perseverance. Ana’s skills focus on painting and solving puzzles through artistic intuition, offering creative tactical solutions that contrast with teammates’ analytical styles. They also won Root Academy’s cross-dressing beauty contest without formally entering.
