TV-Series
Description
Fecor is a Crimson Lord who serves as a high-ranking member of the Bal Masqué, the primary antagonistic organization in the final season. His true name is Storm Hoof, also referred to as Tempest Hoof, and he holds the title of Fortress Commander or Wache, placing him in charge of the control, management, and defense of Seireiden, the floating palace that serves as Bal Masqué's headquarters.
In terms of appearance, Fecor is intentionally unassuming. He takes the form of a feeble-looking, middle-aged businessman dressed in a plain suit. This ordinary human guise is contrasted by several stereotypical demonic features, including a pair of bat-like wings, a long tail, pointed ears, and small horns. He typically carries a curved sword, a Treasure Tool named Oreikhalkos, and is often seen holding a torch-like Treasure Tool called Trivia.
Fecor's personality is defined by a profound contrast between his outward demeanor and his inner power and responsibility. To most observers, especially younger Denizens like Vine, he appears polite, timid, and unremarkable, acting merely as a humble guide who greets guests at the gate of Seireiden. This is a deliberate facade. Fecor chooses to cloak his immense presence using a concealment technique, allowing him to blend in as a nameless, lowly Denizen. He does this to keep a direct ear on the voices and sentiments of the organization's lower ranks, giving him a unique perspective on Bal Masqué's operations from the ground level. Despite his self-effacing behavior, he is fiercely competent, loyal, and methodical in his duties.
His primary motivation is his unwavering duty to Bal Masqué and his loyalty to its sub-leader, Bel Peol. As her right-hand man and adjutant, he is entrusted with the absolute security of Seireiden, a responsibility he has handled successfully for over three centuries, keeping the palace free from invasion and its location hidden. His role in the story of Shakugan no Shana III (Final) is therefore that of the stalwart defender. When the Flame Haze army launches a daring infiltration of Seireiden, Fecor is the first major obstacle they must overcome. He is stunned by the breach but quickly acts, deploying his powerful defensive Unrestricted Spell to protect the gate and buying time for reinforcements to arrive. He commands the Rinne maids to secure the captive Flame Haze, Shana, and coordinates the defense against the invading Flame Hazes, Rebecca and Nbh'w.
Fecor's key relationships are centered on his role within Bal Masqué's hierarchy. His most significant relationship is with Bel Peol, whom he serves directly and loyally as her adjutant and the executor of her strategies. He also interacts with other high-ranking members, such as Decarabia, whom he contacts to demand answers and request reinforcements when the palace is breached. While he is often dismissed or underestimated by other Denizens who do not know his true identity as a powerful Lord, he holds authority over the garrison of Seireiden.
In terms of development and ultimate fate, Fecor remains a consistent character, defined by his competence and dedication. His arc in the final season concludes during the siege of Seireiden. While his Magnesia spell proves powerful enough to hold off the initial Flame Haze assault, the situation changes dramatically with the arrival of Tenmoku Ikko, the Crimson Lord who created Shana's sword, the Nietono no Shana. Tenmoku, responding to Shana's desperate call, cuts a swath through the palace's defenders. A fleeing Denizen tries to warn Fecor, but both are cut down by Tenmoku. Fecor's defensive spell collapses upon his death, leaving Seireiden vulnerable to further attack.
Fecor possesses several notable abilities that reflect his role as a guardian. His signature ability is an Unrestricted Spell called Magnesia, which creates a massive, controlled storm of heavy, cubical particles. While classified as a defensive maneuver, these particles can be used to inflict devastating blunt-force trauma on enemies, concentrate into giant crushing objects, or form a protective barrier strong enough to block attacks from powerful Flame Hazes like Sophie Sawallisch. He carries the Treasure Tool Trivia, which he uses to manipulate the dimensions of Seireiden for communication and detection, and to mask his own immense power. His sword, Oreikhalkos, is a curved blade that allows him to ignore the distance between himself and his target when he swings it, effectively allowing for strikes that cannot be evaded by traditional means. Like all Crimson Denizens, he can also cast a Fūzetsu, a barrier that isolates an area from the normal flow of time and causality.
