Description
Lippo is a minor supporting character in the anime and manga series Hunter x Hunter. He is a Blacklist Hunter, a specialized category of Hunter who pursues and captures criminals. Lippo serves as an examiner for the 287th Hunter Examination, overseeing both the third and fourth phases. In the third phase, held at the Trick Tower, he functions as the prison warden and designs a test that forces examinees to work together under strict time constraints. In the fourth phase, conducted on Zevil Island, he shifts the test to an individual tracking and survival exercise. Lippo has a distinctive appearance: he is a small man with a violet mohawk, red eyes, and large eyeglasses. Despite his short stature, he carries himself with authority and shows a cunning, somewhat mischievous nature. He enjoys watching the participants’ struggles from a control room filled with monitors while eating snacks. His personality leans toward the analytical and detached; he treats the examination as a game and seems to take satisfaction in devising psychological trials. As a Blacklist Hunter, Lippo is also known for personally capturing the serial killer Johness the Ripper, highlighting his competence in bounty hunting. His motivations are professional—he carries out his duties as an examiner without any deeper personal agenda. Lippo has no ongoing relationships with major characters and does not undergo any character development, appearing only during the Hunter Exam arc. He does not demonstrate any named Nen abilities, so his combat and hunting skills remain undefined, though his status as a Blacklist Hunter implies he is a capable and experienced fighter. His role is largely functional: he creates the challenging scenarios that test the main characters’ teamwork, resourcefulness, and resolve.
