TV-Series
Description
Kaluto Zoldyck is the youngest child of the Zoldyck family, a renowned and deadly lineage of assassins from Kukuroo Mountain in the Republic of Padokea. Physically, Kaluto is a small child of ten years old, standing 150 centimeters tall and weighing 31 kilograms. He is characterized by his shoulder-length black hair styled into a bob cut, a pair of reddish-pink eyes, and a notable beauty mark near the corner of his mouth. His typical attire consists of a dark, often purple or black, kimono with a yellow obi and traditional Japanese sandals, a style that gives him a feminine appearance.

Personality wise, Kaluto is primarily defined by his silence and obedience. He is rarely seen expressing overt emotion and typically follows the commands of his family, particularly his mother. Despite this quiet demeanor, he possesses a cruel and brutal side, notably having a habit of toying with his prey during combat instead of dispatching them swiftly. He is also intensely driven, possessing a level of resilience that allows him to endure considerable hardship and suffering without giving up on his objectives. While he can initially appear confident in his abilities, he is quick to analyze his own shortcomings, showing a capacity for realistic self-assessment when confronted with superior opponents. He is known to be jealous of his older sibling, Alluka, for reasons that have not been fully elaborated upon within the narrative.

Kaluto's primary motivation is deeply tied to his family. His overarching goal is to retrieve his brother, Killua, and bring him back to the Zoldyck family. This singular objective drives him to leave the security of his home and infiltrate a dangerous group, demonstrating a will to operate independently from his parents' direct control. He is not motivated by the typical family business of assassination for hire, but rather by a personal desire to restore his perception of familial unity.

Within the story, Kaluto initially appears as a background figure during the Zoldyck Family arc, silently observing the tense interactions between his mother and Killua as the latter leaves home. He later participates in the Yorknew City arc, where he assists his brothers Illumi and Maha in the assassination of the Mafia's Ten Dons, acting as a decoy to facilitate Illumi's covert plans. His most significant role begins when he joins the Phantom Troupe, taking the vacant spot of member number four after Hisoka's departure. During the Greed Island arc, his reconnaissance abilities prove useful in locating a Nen exorcist to help the Troupe's leader. In the Chimera Ant arc, he travels with the Troupe to their hometown of Meteor City to eliminate a colony of Chimera Ants, where he witnesses the full extent of the Phantom Troupe's combat prowess.

Key relationships define much of Kaluto's character. He shares a strong bond with his mother, Kikyo Zoldyck, and is often seen accompanying her. His relationship with his older brother Killua is central to his arc; he shows a marked interest in Killua's activities and his ultimate goal is to force Killua's return to the family. He also has a noted jealousy toward another sibling, Alluka. While he often works alongside his eldest brother Illumi, his membership in the Phantom Troupe has allowed him to form his own dynamic with its members, such as Feitan, whose power he greatly respects, and he appears to show loyalty to his comrades in the group.

Kaluto's character development is subtle but significant. When he first joins the Phantom Troupe, he harbors a belief that his strength is considerable, second only to the leader, and expects to rise in the ranks quickly. However, his experience in Meteor City is a humbling one. Upon seeing the devastating power of members like Feitan, he realizes he is vastly inferior and acknowledges feeling almost hopeless in comparison. Instead of discouraging him, this realization strengthens his resolve; he reaffirms his patience and determination, vowing to continue his mission no matter how many years it takes. This marks a maturation from overconfidence to a more grounded, persevering mindset.

Kaluto is a skilled assassin and a Nen user of the Manipulator type. As a child of the Zoldyck family, he possesses the typical family traits: high resistance to toxins and electricity, as well as superhuman agility and stealth capabilities. His stealth is so proficient that he achieved what was called a "perfect Zetsu," a state that completely conceals his presence, earning praise even from the perceptive Hisoka. In combat, his primary weapon is a large paper fan. His accompanying techniques include "Paper Blizzard," which involves manipulating countless sheets of paper as razor-sharp projectiles, and "Snake Bite Dance," a concentrated attack that gathers the paper into a snake-like form to drill into a target. Another notable ability allows him to cut paper into the shape of a person, creating a surveillance doll that transmits auditory information from the target's location.
