Description
Feitan Portor is a member of the Phantom Troupe, an infamous gang of thieves, where he holds the number two position. He originates from Meteor City, a largely lawless and secretive junkyard settlement whose inhabitants have no official public identity, and is one of the original founding members of the Troupe. Over the course of the story, after achieving a significant victory during the Chimera Ant arc, he briefly serves as the Troupe's de facto leader until the return of their regular boss.

Physically, Feitan is notably short for an adult male, with a listed height of 155 centimeters and a lean weight of 45 kilograms. He has a pale complexion, dark eyes, and mid-length black or dark blue hair that he wears in a center part. His typical outfit consists of dark, baggy clothing, often a black coat or long-sleeved shirt, accompanied by a high-collared garment or a bandana that covers the lower half of his face and features a skull motif. He frequently carries a distinctive red umbrella that is actually a concealed weapon; its handle can be drawn out as a sword, and the tip can function as a gun that fires projectiles like needles or bullets.

Feitan's personality is characterized by an extremely cold and brutal demeanor. As the Troupe's primary interrogator, he possesses a cruel and sadistic streak, being highly proficient in torture, which he uses to extract information from captives. He speaks very little and tends to use short, grammatically simple sentences, and when he becomes truly enraged, he switches to a language that is of unknown origin. Despite his cruel nature, he is deeply loyal to his comrades, though this loyalty is primarily directed at the survival and well-being of the "Spider" the Troupe as a collective entity rather than any single individual, including its leader. In his younger days, before the Troupe became a band of lethal thieves, he was shown to be more caring and kind towards his friends, a stark contrast to his violent present self. This change was driven in part by formative traumatic events, including the murder of a close friend, which fueled a deep thirst for revenge and a commitment to follow the Troupe's path of darkness. He also displays some unusual personal quirks, such as a form of mysophobia, as he refuses to eat or drink anything that someone else has touched or spoken over, and he adheres to the principle that thieves must steal what they want rather than purchase it.

Within the Phantom Troupe, Feitan primarily serves as a combatant and the official interrogator. He gets along well with other members and is particularly close to Phinks, who is often his partner during missions, with the two even competing to see who can score more kills. He also shares a good friendship with Shalnark, and the two have been seen celebrating together and teasing Phinks after battles. He has a noted distaste for Hisoka, considering the leader lenient for allowing him to remain in the group.

In the narrative, Feitan is involved in several major story arcs. During the Yorknew City arc, he takes part in the Phantom Troupe's violent retaliation against the Mafia, massacring attendees at an underground auction and later torturing captured enemies to recover stolen goods. His most significant individual role comes in the Chimera Ant arc, where the Troupe returns to Meteor City to eliminate a colony of Chimera Ants that has taken up residence there. He engages in a fierce battle with Zazan, a powerful ant queen who has transformed into a monstrous form. During the fight, he suffers severe injuries, including a broken arm and ribs. However, this allows him to fully activate his Nen ability. The extent of his rage and his injuries lead him to defeat Zazan in a devastating attack. Following this victory, he becomes the Troupe's acting leader until their original leader is able to rejoin them.

Feitan's combat abilities are formidable, integrating his physical skills with his mastery of Nen. Despite his small stature, his physical strength is ranked fifth highest within the Phantom Troupe. More notably, his speed is exceptional, allowing him to move so quickly that he can leave afterimages of himself, confusing his opponents. He is a Nen user of the Transmutation type, which means he can change the properties of his aura to mimic other substances or phenomena. His primary combat ability is called Pain Packer. This technique is a form of retribution that converts the damage and pain Feitan has received from an enemy directly into offensive power. In its most destructive demonstrated form, Pain Packer manifests as a miniature sun, an ability he calls Rising Sun. The intensity and size of this artificial sun are proportional to the damage Feitan has suffered; the more he is hurt, the hotter and more devastating the resulting explosion will be. Because this attack radiates extreme heat in all directions and can harm anyone nearby, it is considered a last resort that does not discriminate between ally and enemy, affecting everyone in its wide radius. To protect himself from his own attack, Feitan conjures a special suit of armor that allows only his eyes to be seen, shielding him from the immense heat of the sun he creates.
