TV-Series
Description
Ginta is a supporting character in the Hunter × Hunter series, recognized as a high-ranking official within the Hunter Association. He holds the position of a Poacher Hunter, dedicating his professional efforts to combating illegal hunting and safeguarding wildlife, a role that also sees him acting as a ranger. His authority and status are reflected in his membership in the Zodiacs, an elite council of twelve powerful Hunters who served directly under the late Chairman Isaac Netero. Within this group, Ginta holds the codename of "Sheep".

In terms of appearance, Ginta is an imposing and large man with a very muscular and hairy build. His most distinctive features are his large afro, thick lips, and a thick black mustache. He wears a black tank top emblazoned with a design resembling the Union Jack, a pair of flip-flops, and a cape made of sheep’s fur. He also sports two horns that resemble those of a ram on the sides of his head, further emphasizing his animal codename.

Personality-wise, Ginta presents a striking contrast between his formidable appearance and his highly emotional nature. He is depicted as short-tempered and prone to open displays of feeling. This is most evident during the 13th Hunter Chairman Election arc, where he is the only Zodiac member who openly weeps for the loss of Chairman Netero, suggesting a deep, personal bond with the late chairman. His loyalty to Netero triggers a fierce, aggressive outburst when fellow Zodiac Pariston Hill suggests bypassing an election to become chairman himself, with Ginta going so far as to threaten to kill him. Despite this volatility, Ginta is not unintelligent. He possesses a sharp, quiet perceptiveness, as demonstrated when he correctly discerns that the wandering magician Hisoka is attending the election not to vote, but to assess and rate the strength of the Hunters present.

Ginta's primary motivation is deeply rooted in his respect for Isaac Netero and his desire to see the Hunter Association function with integrity. He is a member of the moderate conservative faction within the Zodiacs, aligning himself with colleagues like Cheadle Yorkshire and Mizaistom Nana who favor a balanced and rule-based approach. During the election saga, he actively participates by proposing voting rules and acting as an inspector. Although he briefly attempts to manipulate the votes in his own favor, he is ultimately eliminated from the running as the election progresses.

His key relationships are mainly with his fellow Zodiacs. He shows particular irritation toward the manipulative Pariston and a grudging respect for the unconventional Ging Freecs. He is shown to work cooperatively with other members like Kanzai and Cluck, though he is not above having his enthusiastic daydreams about adventuring with Beyond Netero sharply cut short by them. In the subsequent Succession Contest arc, Ginta's role evolves as the Zodiacs prepare for the perilous voyage to the Dark Continent. He is assigned to the Flora and Fauna Team, responsible for studying and managing the unknown biological threats of the new world. He is also tasked with the specific duty of finding a Nen user with abilities similar to Knov's to aid in the expedition, a search that proves unsuccessful, leading him to enlist the help of Morel Mackernasey for the sea voyage.

Regarding development, Ginta does not undergo a radical personal transformation but rather his established traits are reinforced in high-pressure situations. He remains a steadfast and loyal ally of Cheadle's leadership. When a spy is suspected among the Zodiacs, he willingly agrees to reveal his Nen abilities to prove his innocence, which is confirmed by Kurapika's dowsing.

As for notable abilities, Ginta is considered a very powerful and capable Hunter. His status as a former sparring partner of Isaac Netero speaks volumes about his combat prowess. This assessment is supported by Hisoka's subjective evaluation, where Ginta scores 90 points in overall fighting ability, a rating higher than several other Zodiac members like Kanzai and Pyon, though lower than Illumi Zoldyck's 95. Despite his massive size, he possesses enhanced speed, demonstrated when he is able to move and sit down in front of the impulsive Kanzai before the latter can even take a single step. While Ginta is a proficient Nen user, his specific Nen type and any unique abilities or Hatsu techniques remain unrevealed in the story, though he has demonstrated them privately to other Zodiac members.
