Description
Kinjiro Sakamachi, often called Jiro for short, is the main protagonist of the story, a second-year high school student whose life is defined by an unusual and debilitating condition. He suffers from a severe case of gynophobia, an irrational fear of women, which manifests in a very specific and physical way: whenever a girl touches him, he experiences a violent nosebleed, excessive sweating, and in extreme cases, may even faint. This condition is not born from typical nervousness but is a learned reflex developed from a hilariously abusive childhood. His mother, a professional wrestler, and his younger sister, Kureha, used him as a daily practice dummy for their wrestling moves for over ten years, conditioning his body to react with a nosebleed as a means to make them stop. This upbringing also inadvertently granted him a remarkably resilient body, capable of withstanding significant physical punishment.

In terms of personality, Jiro presents as a fundamentally kind and selfless individual, often willing to go to great lengths to help others, even at his own expense. Despite his outwardly normal demeanor, he is a reluctant "butt-monkey" who frequently finds himself at the center of embarrassing and painful situations brought on by the girls in his life. He holds a deep, though often exasperated, care for his younger sister, Kureha, and is protective of her despite her being the primary cause of his trauma. A notable source of personal embarrassment is his full name, which can be mispronounced to sound like the Japanese word for "chicken," leading him to insist on being called by his nickname, Jiro.

Jiro's role in the story is set in motion by an accidental discovery in the school bathroom. While trying to escape a pursuing girl, he bursts into a stall and finds Subaru Konoe, the school's popular and handsome male butler, wearing girls' underwear. This accidental encounter leads to Jiro groping Subaru's chest, revealing her true gender as a girl. To ensure his silence, Subaru's master, the sadistic heiress Kanade Suzutsuki, has Jiro chained up in the nurse's office. She forces him to sign a contract agreeing to keep Subaru's secret in exchange for her help in finding a cure for his gynophobia.

His key relationships drive much of the story's conflict and comedy. With Subaru Konoe, he transitions from a hostile witness to her most trusted confidant. Although initially seen as a "pervert" who must be silenced, Subaru comes to rely on Jiro as her very first real friend. Because the school at large still believes Subaru is a boy, their close friendship leads to a widespread, humorous misconception that they are gay lovers, which spawns both supportive and oppositional fan clubs among Subaru's female admirers. His relationship with Kanade Suzutsuki is more antagonistic; she frequently torments him for her own amusement, subjecting him to embarrassing situations like finding Subaru naked in his bathroom, all under the guise of "treating" his phobia. Despite this, her help does provide the framework for his interactions with other characters.

Throughout the story, Jiro shows subtle but clear development. He begins as a passive victim of his condition but gradually works to overcome it, in part through his growing feelings for Subaru. His willingness to confront his fears is a testament to his character. Furthermore, by the end of the manga, he undergoes significant training, taking a "level in badass" to the point where he can fight Subaru's highly skilled father to a draw, proving that the resilience built from childhood abuse can be turned into a genuine strength.

His most notable ability is his aforementioned superhuman durability, which allows him to walk away from beatings that would hospitalize a normal person. This, combined with his growing resolve, makes him more than just a victim of circumstance. However, his most defining and consistently active ability remains the involuntary nosebleed, a physical gag that signals his phobia's activation and serves as the story's primary source of its unique brand of romantic comedy.
