TV-Series
Description
Fuya Okudaira is a middle school-aged child actor and a holder of a Number card. He is best known for portraying the titular hero, Robin, on an in-universe television program called D.D. Esper Robin, a role that has made him a popular public figure.

In his private life, Fuya has a personality that is the near opposite of his brave and heroic on-screen counterpart. Off camera, he is a timid and shy boy, even possessing fears of mundane things such as spiders. This constant pressure to maintain his public image as a fearless hero forces him to hide his true, more vulnerable self, leading to a profound sense of loneliness. He speaks using a hesitant tone and often keeps to himself, as his mother pressures him to only interact with people involved with his show.

Fuya's primary motivation is a desire for genuine connection and the freedom to be himself without the weight of his acting persona. He does not enjoy the isolation his fame brings, and he yearns for acceptance of his real personality rather than adoration for the character he plays.

In the story, Fuya's life changes when he meets the protagonist Yuma Tsukumo, who accidentally discovers his true nature. Yuma is the first person to tell Fuya that he should be more himself, and Fuya immediately accepts Yuma as a friend. However, before they can duel, Fuya discovers the Number 83: Galaxy Queen. The card's influence preys on his inner turmoil and possess him, causing him to fully believe he is the heroic Robin from his show. Under this delusion, he begins patrolling the city at night, attacking people he believes are minions of the fictional villain Furious Max. Yuma confronts and duels the possessed Fuya to save him. During the duel, Fuya sees the Galaxy Queen as his real mother and rejects his actual mother when she arrives. After a hard-fought battle, Yuma defeats him, and the Number is sealed. Freed from its control, Fuya reconciles with his mother, who apologizes for her pressure and promises to let him be himself.

Fuya later participates in the World Duel Carnival tournament. Having become bolder and more confident after his experience, he now seems more comfortable balancing his heroic stage persona with his modest, polite true nature. He duels the powerful opponent Nistro and, though he loses, he enjoys the match thoroughly, crediting Yuma for teaching him that dueling can be fun. Fuya perceptively notes Yuma's talent for making people happy through dueling.

The most significant relationship in Fuya's life is with Yuma Tsukumo, whom he considers a true friend who helped him embrace his authentic self. He maintains a deep admiration for Yuma's never-give-up spirit. Another key relationship is with his mother, who is also his manager. Initially, her pressure to maintain his heroic image is a source of great stress, but they reconcile after he is freed from the Number's possession, leading to a healthier family dynamic.

Throughout the series, Fuya shows clear development. He starts as a lonely, timid boy trapped by the expectations of his fame. After his duels with Yuma and his mother's apology, he becomes more self-assured and learns to express his true feelings. He is able to integrate his heroic stage persona with his genuine, polite nature, finding a balance between his public role and private self.

As a duelist, Fuya uses a Sparrow Family Deck, also known as an Esper Robin Cast Deck. The cards in this deck are modeled after characters from his television show. The strategy revolves around gathering the monsters representing the Sparrow’s allies on the field to combine them and summon powerful fusion-like monsters. His signature card during his initial appearance is Number 83: Galaxy Queen, a monster shaped like his mother’s character. After losing that Number, his new ace card is a robotic behemoth called Superdimensional Robot Galaxy Destroyer, which he summons by combining the other heroic monsters from his deck. He duels in a theatrical and flashy style that mirrors the action of his television program.
