TV-Series
Description
Aimaru is a human male and serves as the leader of the Gourmet Knights, a group that follows the principles of Food Honor and the Gourmet Doctrine, which emphasize living in harmony with nature and include periods of fasting. He stands approximately 185 centimeters tall and weighs 77 kilograms. He has pale skin and a slim build. His typical attire includes bandages wrapped around his head, and his appearance changes over the course of the story. In his youth, he wore a yellow and red jumpsuit with a red cape. After recovering from a severe illness, he is seen in a darker jumpsuit with a white cape and bandages that appear more decorative than necessary.

By nature, Aimaru is typically calm and humble, a demeanor shaped by his strict training and philosophy. This personality, however, shifts dramatically when he is around Toriko. The two share a long-standing friendship that is expressed through constant bickering and mutual insults, which stem from their opposing views on food. Aimaru adheres to a disciplined diet and fasting, while Toriko is known for his gluttonous, overindulgent eating habits. Toriko often refers to Aimaru and the other Gourmet Knights as bean stalks due to their thin bodies, while Aimaru retaliates by calling Toriko a fatty and urging him to adopt the Food Doctrine, albeit without success. Despite their constant arguments, they remain good friends and rivals, having made a bet to see who could find the ingredient GOD first.

Aimaru possesses a unique and dangerous biological ability to metabolize diseases. He can eat viruses, bacteria, and even the deadly curses from the Gourmet World, and in doing so, produce cures for them. This power has a severe drawback, as the accumulated diseases gradually take a toll on his body, eventually leaving him bedridden. He carries within him one hundred trillion bacteria, which he can transform into lethal viruses as an offensive technique. After years of suffering, he was cured by a special medicine from the country of Life.

In combat, Aimaru is a skilled fighter and a proficient archer, specifically in the art of Yabusame, the practice of mounted archery. His accuracy and skill are demonstrated when he heavily injures an opponent with a volley of arrows. As the leader of the Gourmet Knights and a master of mental disciplines known as Routines, he possesses a high level of focus and control over his emotions. He is the one who taught the concept of Routines to both his apprentice, Takimaru, and to Toriko. His most advanced technique is the Ultimate Routine, also known as the Conduct of the King. This ability allows him to use intense mental imagery to affect reality, akin to a powerful placebo effect. He can use this focus to damage or heal his own body and to give his attacks tremendous power. However, because his philosophy dictates that he eats very little, he has low stamina and can only perform his most powerful attacks infrequently, as they consume a vast amount of energy.

Aimaru plays a significant role as a supporting character and mentor. He is a close friend of Toriko from their past and serves as a rival who challenges Toriko's way of life. He is the direct superior of Takimaru, who is deeply loyal to Aimaru after being saved by him. Aimaru later teaches Toriko the Ultimate Routine, helping the protagonist grow stronger. His personal journey involves a struggle for survival against the illness caused by his own powers, initially refusing the cure before choosing to live and continue his pursuit of GOD after hearing a message from Toriko. In the later parts of the story, he plays an active role in the search for ingredients in the Gourmet World, using his unique abilities, such as controlling Gourmet Slime Mold to create maps, to aid the group.
