TV-Series
Description
Jun Kitagawa is a secondary character and a friend of the protagonist, Yuichi Aizawa. He is a student at the same high school, seated directly behind Yuichi in their classroom. His height is 175 centimeters, he weighs 61 kilograms, and his birthday is April 18th. In the original visual novel, only his surname, Kitagawa, was given; his first name, Jun, was revealed in a magazine approximately half a year after the game's release.

Jun possesses a cheerful and active personality, often serving as a source of comic relief within the story. He is skilled at creating a lively atmosphere and is known for his ability to deliver sharp-witted retorts, or "tsukkomi," particularly in his interactions with Yuichi. While he appears to be the type who might be popular with girls, he is ironically not very skilled when it comes to romance. Despite his often humorous role, Jun demonstrates loyalty and genuine care for his friends. A notable aspect of his personality is an occasional hint of jealousy towards Yuichi, whom he feels is more successful in attracting female attention.

His primary motivation and recurring subplot involve his persistent but unrequited romantic feelings for his classmate, Kaori Misaka. He frequently follows her around and makes his affections known, only to be routinely dismissed by her. There are also hints that Nayuki Minase may have had a crush on Jun during middle school.

Jun's most significant role in the story occurs during Mai Kawasumi's narrative arc. Following a destructive incident at a school ballroom dance that he helped organize, the student council president, Kuze, seeks to have Mai expelled. To protect her, Jun steps forward and falsely claims that he had asked Mai to perform a "sword dance" as part of the entertainment, thereby assuming the blame and preventing her expulsion. He also contributes in smaller but meaningful ways, such as being the first person to notice Shiori Misaka standing alone outside the school in the snow, and later discovering a lost item belonging to Ayu Tsukimiya.

While Jun's presence in the story is not as extensive as the main heroines, his role developed significantly across different adaptations. In the original visual novel and the first anime adaptation, his appearances were limited and he served mostly as a minor friend character. However, the later Kyoto Animation adaptation greatly expanded his role, giving him more personality and elevating him into an important comedic presence who participates more actively in key story events. He does not possess any supernatural or specialized abilities; his defining traits are his loyalty, his humor, and his function as a supportive friend. Jun has short, straight blonde hair that reaches his eyes, often featuring a small ahoge, or "antenna hair," on top of his head, and his typical attire is the school uniform.
