Description
Mère Oga, the mother of Tatsumi Oga in the anime and manga Beelzebub, is a minor but warm presence in the story. She is the wife of Oga’s father and the mother of Tatsumi and his sister Misaki. Physically, she is depicted as a woman with short brown hair and dark eyes, often seen wearing an apron and slippers around the house, which reflects her role as a homemaker.

Her personality is primarily kind and welcoming. Although she is initially surprised when her son arrives home with the infant demon Beelzebub IV and the demon maid Hilda, she quickly accepts them into the family without hesitation. She takes on the role of grandmother to Baby Beel with visible excitement, even remarking that the baby reminds her of a young Tatsumi. This acceptance shows her open-mindedness and her deep sense of family loyalty.

Despite her gentle nature, she can become sharp or irritated with her husband’s unusual behaviour. She tends to take things at face value; when Hilda makes casual references to her demon heritage, Mère Oga either misunderstands or laughs it off as a joke, never questioning the supernatural elements around her. In the anime, Hilda notes that Tatsumi’s personality seems to be inherited from his mother, suggesting that beneath his tough delinquent exterior lies a core of kindness and stubbornness similar to hers.

Her motivations are centered on maintaining a stable and loving home. She does not seek power or involvement in the story’s conflicts; instead, she provides a normal domestic backdrop for the often chaotic events. She supports her son’s decisions, even when they involve raising a demon child, and she treats Hilda and Beel as genuine family members.

In terms of role in the story, Mère Oga appears primarily in scenes set at the Oga household. She does not participate in battles or supernatural plotlines, serving instead as a grounding influence. Her key relationship is with her son Tatsumi, whom she clearly cares for despite his delinquent reputation, and with her husband, with whom she shares a comedic, mildly exasperated dynamic. She also forms a cordial bond with Hilda, whom she treats as a daughter-in-law.

Character development for Mère Oga is minimal; she remains consistent throughout the series as a kind, slightly naive, and protective mother. There are no notable abilities or special powers associated with her. She is a purely normal human character whose function is to highlight the contrast between the extraordinary circumstances surrounding the demon world and the ordinary warmth of a family home.
