Description
Ganessa Roland is a Pandora, a genetically enhanced warrior, attending West Genetics Academy. She is a second-year student hailing from the United Kingdom and is known by the epithet the Angel of Confinement. She stands at a height of 164 centimeters. In the anime adaptation, she is portrayed with long red hair styled into two large pigtails, while in the original manga, her hair is pink.
Ganessa has a hotheaded, prideful, and competitive personality. She is easily angered and can be very aggressive, even displaying a sadistic streak in battle, as seen when she brutally tortured her opponent during a fight. Initially the second-ranked Pandora in her year, she became the number one ranked second-year student when she capitalized on an outside disruption to defeat the previously undefeated Satellizer L. Bridget. Despite this fierce rivalry, Ganessa does not harbor true malice towards Satellizer. She considers her a friend and comrade, and her motivations are rooted in a desire to prove her own strength and surpass her rival.
However, her pride is coupled with a strong sense of duty. In a critical moment, Ganessa willingly threw herself in front of a deadly particle beam to protect Satellizer, sacrificing her own right arm and sustaining severe burns and damage to her upper body. When her limiter, Arthur, asked why she performed such an act of self-sacrifice, she weakly stated that it was a Pandoras duty to protect those weaker than herself. She later downplayed the heroism, claiming she was merely protecting someone weaker, a statement that aligns with her ego.
Ganessas key relationship is with her limiter, Arthur. Their bond is intense and complex. In private, she can be kind and affectionate toward him, but she often treats him harshly or like a slave in front of others, leading their peers to believe their partnership is poor. Despite this public persona, she is extremely possessive of Arthur and deeply cares for him. Conversely, Arthur is deeply devoted to her, breaking down in tears and desperately trying to save her after she is critically injured.
In terms of abilities, Ganessa is notably powerful for a second-year student, being one of the few in her class capable of wielding Pandora Mode. Her Volt Weapon consists of chained flails attached to her back, known as the Chains of Binding. She can manipulate the movements of these chains and extend their length at will, allowing her to bind enemies and perform long-range attacks from all directions and angles, a technique she calls All-Round Assault. In the anime adaptation, two of these flails can transform into circular saws for additional offensive capability.
