Description
Gatlin captains the Galopoula Expedition Force, hailing from a Neighbor world under Aftokrator. His mission targets Border's offensive strength using careful, non-violent strategies, understanding Aftokrator aimed to shift Border's focus towards Galopoula. This approach showcases his cunning nature, prioritizing tactical objectives over direct conflict. He maintains composure even in defeat, acknowledging opponents' strengths.
Tall and well-built, he has cropped dark hair, beard stubbles, and a distinctive scar running from his forehead down the left side of his face. In combat, Gatlin wields specialized Triggers. His primary weapon, Vasilissa, deploys four durable, bladed arms capable of repelling simultaneous assaults from multiple top Border attackers like Kei Tachikawa, Kirie Konami, and Kō Murakami. These arms also enable vertical surface maneuvering; damaged blades can be replaced with shields.
His secondary Trigger, Cannon, forms a high-power firearm on an arm stump. It fires a beam potent enough to pierce reinforced Trion walls but requires minutes to recharge after each shot and generates significant recoil, countered by anchoring Vasilissa's arms into the ground. Additional Triggers include Disguise for altering appearance, Summon for deploying portal-based "Dogs" as scouts or diversions, and Shield for creating durable pentagonal barriers capable of resisting attacks from Black Triggers like Fūjin.
During the B-Rank Wars Arc, Gatlin led a mission to destroy Border's away ship. Infiltrating Border HQ disguised as an Idra with teammates Rata and Wen Sō, he advanced towards the ship, evading Jin's Fūjin strike using intelligence from Aftokrator. Confronted by Border's elite attackers near the ship, he engaged Tachikawa and Konami in a two-on-one battle, holding his ground while analyzing their tactics mid-fight. Kazama's sneak attacks caused minor injuries, but Gatlin remained formidable until Murakami repeatedly blocked his Cannon shots. After a final failed attempt to destroy the ship, he retreated calmly, acknowledging the setback while emphasizing future opportunities.
Border assessed his combat parameters as: Trion (10), Attack (13), Defense/Support (9), Mobility (6), Skill (10), Range (5), Command (9), Special Tactics (4), totaling 66. His name is an anagram derived from a character in *Kiteretsu Daihyakka* and also references an English surname meaning "Fellow" or "Companion." Personal preferences include family, spit-roasted fish, and venison stew.
