Natsuko Aki, often called Nat-chan by her close friends, is a student at Saint Chapel Academy and the best friend of the series' protagonist, Honey Kisaragi. She is a typical teenage girl who is cheerful, somewhat ditzy, and boy-crazy, frequently getting herself into lighthearted trouble or captured by the antagonists of the Panther Claw organization. Unlike her counterpart in the original 1970s series, this version of Natsuko survives the dangerous encounters that befall her. She remains unaware of Honey's secret identity as the hero Cutie Honey until the twenty-fourth episode of the series, which marks a turning point in her understanding of the world around her. Her primary motivation is to support her friend: she is always present to cheer Honey up when she is feeling down, offering emotional comfort and normalcy amid the extraordinary events that Honey faces. Natsuko does not possess any combat abilities or magical powers; she is a regular human whose strength lies in her loyalty and her grounding presence. Her relationship with Honey is central to her role in the story, serving as a reminder of the ordinary life Honey is fighting to protect.
