Description
The character known as Armanoïde Lady, often referred to simply as Lady or Armanoïde in the French version, is the steadfast partner of the protagonist Cobra. Standing approximately 183 centimeters tall, she possesses a tall, distinctly feminine silhouette despite her artificial nature. Her true identity is that of Princess Emeralda, originally from the planet Tasogare Wakusei, also known as the Twilight Planet. She was once a human rebel leader fighting against the tyrannical King Giros. During this conflict, she suffered critical, life-threatening injuries. To save her, her consciousness was transferred into a mechanical body composed of advanced live metal, a technology originating from the ancient lost civilization of Mars. This transformation erased her physical humanity, turning her into a top-class Armaroid, but she retained the core of her original personality and memories.

In terms of personality, Armanoïde Lady is the serious and composed counterbalance to Cobra’s more impulsive nature. She is deeply loyal, devoted, and protective, often acting as his emotional anchor and moral compass. Her affection for Cobra is largely unspoken but manifests through her constant vigilance and willingness to sacrifice herself for his safety. On one occasion, she demonstrates this devotion by being prepared to activate a miniature bomb embedded within her own body. While generally calm and collected, she can occasionally display flashes of exasperation or behavior that resembles jealousy, hinting at the complex feelings she harbors from her past life as a woman who loved him.

Her primary motivation is to support and protect Cobra. Having lost her human form and her royal station, her existence revolves around her partnership with him. She serves as the pilot of their spaceship, the Turtle, also known as the Psychoroïde, and provides tactical and analytical support during their adventures. She rarely engages in direct physical combat and does not carry conventional weapons, preferring to rely on her technical skills and the inherent durability of her body. Her role in the story is that of the indispensable companion; she is the one who manages logistics, watches Cobra's back, and often saves him when his reckless bravado lands him in trouble.

The relationship between Cobra and Armanoïde Lady is the emotional core of the series. He holds her in higher regard than anyone else, and her well-being is a primary concern for him. The depth of their bond is explored extensively in the Time Drive story arc, where her mechanical body begins to inexplicably vanish. To save her, Cobra travels into the past, where he encounters Emeralda before her transformation. This journey reveals that she was the only woman he ever truly loved. This narrative establishes that her current role is not merely that of a partner, but also carries the shadow of a past romance. She is also one of the six Legendary people chosen by the goddess Ahura Mazda to combat the evil spirit Ariman, giving her a cosmic significance beyond her personal mission to aid Cobra.

Armanoïde Lady possesses several notable abilities derived from her live metal body. This unique construction grants her superhuman strength and immense durability, allowing her to resist attacks such as laser fire, stabbing implements, and liquid nitrogen that would kill a normal human. She is a highly skilled pilot and technician. Despite her metal composition, her body is flexible and maintains an ultra-feminine silhouette, a design characteristic that emphasizes her former humanity. While she can defend herself physically, her strength is primarily defensive or utilitarian, used for piloting or handling heavy objects rather than aggressive combat.
