OVA
Description
Alice Sakaguchi is the central character of the story, a high school student who has recently moved to Tokyo from a peaceful town in Hokkaido, a place she deeply misses for its tranquility and lack of pollution. Initially, she is portrayed as a shy, quiet, and somewhat reserved young woman who struggles to fit in with her new surroundings. This gentle nature is challenged from the moment she meets her next-door neighbor, Rin Kobayashi, a young boy who takes pleasure in teasing and mocking her.

A significant aspect of Alice's character is her unique, innate ability to communicate with plants. She can sense what plants are thinking and, by singing to them, can make them grow and flourish. This power is a remnant of her past life as Mokuren, a scientist on a team observing Earth from a moon base. While others who share these past-life memories actively seek to remember more, Alice is reluctant and fearful. She resists delving into her dreams of the moon because she is terrified of losing her current identity and being overwhelmed by Mokuren's memories. Furthermore, she feels profoundly inadequate, believing that as the ordinary Alice, she could never live up to the others' expectations of the beautiful and talented Mokuren. This internal conflict leads her to withdraw from the group of fellow reincarnated individuals, instead choosing to join her school's choir in an attempt to live a normal life, which causes even the other reincarnates to doubt that she is truly Mokuren.

Her role in the story is deeply intertwined with Rin Kobayashi. After an argument in which she slaps him and he falls from a balcony, Rin uses the incident to blackmail her into securing a formal engagement with him. Although their relationship begins with animosity and coercion, Alice’s feelings for Rin gradually change. She starts to care for him as a friend and neighbor, and despite the significant nine-year age difference between them, she later develops genuine romantic feelings for him. Throughout the narrative, Alice is the key to unlocking the past, as her memories as Mokuren hold vital secrets, yet her personal journey is one of reconciling her present self with the powerful legacy of who she once was.

In terms of development, Alice's arc is defined by this struggle between her present and past lives. Her initial refusal to dream forces those around her to confront their own expectations and memories. Over time, she begins to accept her connection to Mokuren, not by abandoning her identity as Alice, but by integrating the strength and memories of her past life into her present. This growth allows her to forge a future for herself, ultimately marrying Rin and having two children, a son named Ren and a daughter named Chimako.

Regarding her notable abilities, Alice retains the core powers of her previous incarnation, Mokuren, who was a rare type of psychic known as a Kiches Sarjalian. As a Kiches, she possesses plant empathy and the ability to stimulate plant growth through song. This power is marked by a symbol of four red dots on her forehead, a trait associated with the Kiches in her past life. This ability is not just a party trick; it is a profound connection to nature that defines her gentle personality and links her directly to her origins on a distant world.
