TV-Series
Description
Hiroshi Sotomura is a close friend of the protagonist, Junpei Manaka, and a fellow student at their high school. He is an instantly recognizable supporting character, often seen with his long bangs covering his eyes, a look that is occasionally compared to a heroine from a romantic game. He also has a younger sister named Misuzu Sotomura.
Hiroshi’s primary and most defining trait is his all-consuming obsession with photographing pretty girls. This hobby is not merely for personal enjoyment; he maintains a website named "Melon 100%" where he uploads these photos, aiming to create an internet idol site. In pursuit of this goal, he strategically re-establishes the school's Film Studies Club. His main motivation for doing so is to secure school funding and facilities, which he can then divert to the development and expansion of his website.
Despite his somewhat perverse and single-minded pursuit of photographing female classmates, Hiroshi is a surprisingly multifaceted character. He is consistently portrayed as one of the most academically gifted students in the school, securing grades that are often at the very top of his grade level, even surpassing the brilliant Aya Tojo. Furthermore, he acts as a confidant and advisor to Junpei. Whenever Junpei finds himself tangled in his complex romantic problems, he turns to Hiroshi, who offers blunt but surprisingly insightful and sound advice on the matters of the heart.
In the unfolding story, Hiroshi is the driving force behind the formation of the Film Studies Club, enlisting Junpei and others to create the "Video Research Department." Within this club, he takes on a supporting role, focusing his efforts on helping Junpei, the aspiring filmmaker, with his movie projects. He demonstrates a sharp, calculating nature and keen observational skills, which he uses to support his friends even as he pursues his own agenda.
Hiroshi’s character shows a consistent and ambitious trajectory. He begins as a high school student with a covert plan to build an idol empire from his website. Ultimately, his long-term goal is not just to run a popular site, but to establish a legitimate entertainment production company. After graduating from high school, he is accepted into the prestigious Tokyo University. In a full realization of his ambitions, he eventually goes on to found "Sotomura Production," an entertainment agency that later signs his underclassman, Chinami Hashimoto.
While Hiroshi does not possess any physical or combat abilities, his notable skills lie in his intelligence, his strategic planning, and his technological savvy regarding web design and photography. His sharp perception also makes him an invaluable source of clarity for Junpei, who often struggles with indecision.
