Description
The character known as Eifersüchtiger Junge, which translates from German to "Jealous Boy," does not correspond to a named character in the official production of "Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie." Instead, this title is most frequently used to refer to the rival duelist Seto Kaiba in non-English discussions of the film. His central role is defined by his intense envy of the protagonist, Yugi Muto, and his obsessive desire to surpass him. Kaiba is a young, immensely wealthy, and highly skilled corporate executive whose background is defined by his pride and his unyielding drive to be the best. In the movie, his primary motivation is to defeat Yugi in a Duel Monsters match and take possession of his three Egyptian God cards, which are considered unbeatable and the ultimate symbol of dueling supremacy. Kaiba serves as the primary human antagonist in the story, whose personal vendetta becomes intertwined with the film's larger supernatural threat. He devises a scheme to lure Yugi into a tournament rigged with a new virtual reality system, believing he has acquired a secret card that can negate the power of the Egyptian Gods. His key relationship is his rivalry with Yugi, which is the driving force behind his actions. This enmity is so pronounced that the film's resurrected ancient evil, Anubis, is able to sense and exploit Kaiba's negative emotions to possess him, turning him into a vessel for its own plans for destruction. Throughout the film, Kaiba shows little to no development as he remains largely antagonistic, but his sheer determination and skill make him a formidable threat. As a duelist, Kaiba is shown to be a master strategist who relies on overwhelming power, most notably through his iconic Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards. His notable abilities in the movie include his prowess in the card game and his technological resources, which allow him to create the advanced holographic arena for the final duel.
