Description
Miyako Taema is a supporting character in the anime Sasameki Koto. She is a high school student and a classmate of the main protagonists, Sumika Murasame and Ushio Kazama. Miyako is the daughter of the driver employed by the wealthy Hachisuka family, a detail that creates some friction within Tomoe’s household, though her relationship with Tomoe is unaffected. She is in a romantic relationship with Tomoe Hachikusa, and the two are first discovered kissing in a classroom by Sumika and Ushio, although the latter do not immediately realize who the couple is.

In terms of background, Miyako and Tomoe form a couple whose exclusive closeness often leaves them without other friends. They are grateful when Sumika and Ushio become their friends, as they rarely get to socialize with others due to their relationship. Her role in the story is primarily that of a confidante and instigator: she and Tomoe encourage Sumika to confess her feelings to Ushio, and Miyako is the one who snaps a photo of Sumika and Ushio kissing (a misunderstanding that later helps reveal Sumika’s unrequited love). She also collaborates with Tomoe to give Sumika lessons in appearing cuter and clumsier, hoping that this will make Ushio fall for her.

Miyako’s personality is marked by a stark contrast between her outward appearance and her true nature. She has a small, cute, and innocent-looking face, which makes her popular with boys at school, who often refer to her as “princess.” However, beneath this delicate exterior, she is alert, mischievous, and sharp-tongued. She enjoys teasing and embarrassing those around her, and she is not particularly tactful—unlike Tomoe, she bluntly advises Sumika to confess directly. This mischievous streak can be described as devilish, and only Tomoe seems able to keep her in check. Despite her teasing, she is not malicious; she genuinely cares about her friends and wants to see Sumika happy.

Miyako’s motivations are largely driven by her relationship with Tomoe and her desire to support her friends’ romantic endeavors. She is proactive in pushing Sumika toward honesty, and she often uses humor and playful antagonism to break the ice. Her relationship with Sumika is built on mutual teasing and occasional bickering, but underneath it, there is a solid friendship. Miyako does not undergo a major personal transformation over the course of the series; instead, she remains a consistent presence who provides comic relief and honest advice. She has no notable supernatural or physical abilities, but her sharp observation and ability to read situations make her an effective catalyst for plot developments. Overall, Miyako Taema serves as a colorful secondary character whose deceptive innocence and sharp wit add depth to the social dynamics of the story.
