Magical Sapphire is a Kaleidostick, a Mystic Code designed to enable Magical Girl transformation. Initially contracted to Luviagelita Edelfelt, she terminated this partnership due to persistent conflict between Luviagelita and Rin Tohsaka, actively seeking a more compatible master. She found this in Miyu Edelfelt, forming a dedicated contract to unlock Miyu's Magical Girl potential. Sapphire is the younger sister of Magical Ruby, yet her personality is distinctly more mature, formal, and responsible. She approaches her duties with seriousness, avoids frivolity, and communicates directly, often bordering on bluntness—a stark contrast to Ruby's playful nature. Her loyalty and care are firmly directed towards Miyu, extending concern to those Miyu holds dear, while displaying dismissiveness towards individuals she deems unworthy. Physically, Sapphire resembles a toy magical girl wand. Her form features a six-pointed yellow star enclosed within a ring, two small blue beads, and two pairs of butterfly-like wings: large upper wings in blue with white spots and smaller lower wings in black with jagged ends. A retractable blue handle with a white top and brush completes her design, though the handle remains absent when not actively wielded. Throughout her appearances, Sapphire actively supports Miyu in combat against Class Cards and other threats. She participates in various events, including beach trips and hot springs visits. Environments like hot springs accelerate mana drain for contracted beings, necessitating compensatory actions from Miyu and Illya. During the "Prisma Causeway" event within a Reality Marble, Sapphire and Ruby were summoned alongside their masters Miyu and Illyasviel von Einzbern. An attack by Connacht ☆ Medb separated them. Sapphire located Miyu restrained within the Anti-Magical Girl Mystic Code, Voile de Deuil. Following Miyu's instructions, she recorded a warning message concerning the enemy, the First Lady, and delivered it to Illya's allies. To facilitate Miyu's rescue, she formed a temporary contract with Mash Kyrielight. Sapphire contributed to the ensuing battles against Medb and later the First Lady, who sought to use Miyu's power to incarnate Echoes—residual thoughts of Magical Girls—across parallel worlds. After the First Lady's defeat and reconciliation, Sapphire assisted the group's return to their respective worlds. Her core abilities mirror Magical Ruby's: accessing the Mana Plane to provide near-unlimited magical energy (limited by the user's Magic Circuits), enabling energy projection, manipulation, and enhancements such as A-rank magical barriers, physical protection, regeneration, and increased strength. She facilitates the "Include" and "Install" functions for Class Cards. Sapphire can fly autonomously and establish temporary contracts with individuals besides her primary master when necessary. She communicates wirelessly with Ruby via video or audio, though strong magical interference can block this. A unique ability allows her to induce hypnosis to erase memories, with the side effect of the target losing one IQ point, as demonstrated when controlling mice. A significant weakness is her inability to utilize core Magical Girl spells or maintain transformations without a wielder; prolonged separation from her master will undo any active transformation.
