TV-Series
Description
Noir is a female black cat who belongs to the Kirishima household, which includes the twin sisters Kotone and Akari Kirishima and their father, the Buddhist monk Keizo Kirishima. She has a pink bell collar and white fur inside her ears. When the protagonist Junpei Kousaka first encountered her, he mistook her for an omen of bad luck due to her black coat, a superstition that is briefly referenced in the story.

Noir was the only cat in the Kirishima home for a period before a male cat named Tama was adopted into the family. Tama is a rare breed, and after his arrival, Keizo began lavishing him with attention and gourmet cat food while giving Noir common cat food and far less affection. This shift in treatment is the root of Noir's personality and motivations. She developed a distinctly prima-donna attitude, acting prideful and somewhat demanding as a way of asserting her status. She also became jealous of Tama for what she perceived as near-royal treatment. Despite this rivalry, she and Tama share a genuine fondness for one another and care about each other, though they frequently argue and bicker, easily becoming argumentative over small matters.

In the story, Noir serves as a supporting character primarily connected to the Kirishima family. Kotone Kirishima, one of the twins, tends to bring Noir along with her wherever she goes, making Noir a recurring presence in scenes involving the temple and its surroundings. Noir does not have any supernatural abilities of her own, but she is a regular cat who is aware of the supernatural events in the series, particularly the curse that allows Junpei to understand cats. Her role in the narrative is largely tied to her relationship with Tama and her place in the Kirishima household, providing a feline perspective on the jealousy and rivalry that can arise between pets.

Noir does not undergo significant personal development across the series, but her dynamic with Tama sees moments of reconciliation. The two cats, despite their frequent squabbles, eventually settle their differences when prompted by the events of the story, showing that their bond is more resilient than their pride. Noir's notable abilities are not extraordinary; she is a typical cat in terms of physical capabilities, but her expressive personality and vocal nature make her stand out among the animal cast.
